A Bad Week!

Well, last week was a week I would rather forget.

On Tuesday night, while my car was parked in Pyrmont somone broke into it. The only thing of any value was my laptop, that was in the boot. Needless to say, they took it.

Hi. I had a previous car broken into, so I can relate to what you're feeling. That was when I learned that cheapest insurance definately doesn't always equate to "best" insurance.

just on the point of alarms. i was thinking, as i do. Would it be wise for someone to design a system that "harms" the intruder in some way? like ummm 4 119 DB sirens that go off when the glove box/centre storage compartment is opened when it is "Armed". (Burst they're ear drums?)


maybe i should drop by Jay car and see what i can do haha.

I'm assuming you're just joking when you say this, but I'd be careful. People have been successfully prosecuted and sued for injuries and damages sustsined, even though it was during the commission of a crime.

I think it'd be one thing to be telling people if there was some way to bypass security systems. I hardly think you need to be Albert Einstein to work out the issues already mentioned. If a car isn't vulnerable one way, it's another. (Isn't that a profound statement). How many cars wouldn't stand up to someone attacking the window with a hammer? Unless someone specifically wants a particular car, the window is a good barrier in most cases.

my (fit 125kg) fijian mate forgot something from his car once, went back and found a guy trying to get into his car.
"are you o.k mate?" he asked....
"just locked my keys in the car" said the dude....

Not going into detail, but when someone runs and resist's arrest, the force used must always be proportinate and reasonable to the force used by the other party.

In any struggle/altercation like that, someone always gets hurt, it's just a simple fact of life, and usually not us.

Well as Skooby says 'reasonable force'... and he actually has to PROVE you touched him for a charge to stand. The (good) boys in blue will usually ignore a few bruises caused while you 'restrained' the criminal.
I can see the explanation now when Skooby turns up "mate, I caught this guy breaking into my car, when I yelled at him he made a run for it, tripped on that gutter, that's why his teeth are poking out his arse"
