end of the tether

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

ok this is getting beyond a joke....

im about to snap and start belting people..

ive just spoken to subaru again, and they are going through the process of elimination trying to fix my car..

the car is with them the 3 weeks im away up in townsville, and ive told them to use it as a daily driver, to try and eliminate the problem and the latest replacement is the manifold air sensor???? whatever...

now after another week of them having it, thier conclusion to my problems is my exhaust.... so thats it... they put a standard exhaust back on the car, and apparently it runs fine... oh bull****......

ive had the car 3 years now and the zaust, (as crap as it sounds) has been on there for over 2 and a half of it...

the major probs that im having now have only been happening since the short motor was relplaced, which was 12 months ago.. yes ive been fighting this battle for 12 months now....

so i have told them to contiune driving it till i get home, and come up with something better than the exhaust being the reason for such significant performance loss in my car... surely, 2 bloody mufflers arent going to make my car run this bad, and cause so many obvious issues...

and yes i have even tried running the car back with the standard pipes in it, but it made no diff whatsoever.. but apparently me saying that is not enough

so now it seems i am going to have to wait till i get home, put the stock bus mufflers back on it, and drive it again to proove to them that its not my bloody exhuast...

anyone have the nick seniors phone number?? hasnt answered my email!!!

I had a very similar problem with a past car (Holden) and upon suggestion of some media involvement they pulled their finger out (problems went on for 4 years and were still not really fixed), I still cut my losses and moved on to a Subaru.

I would say 2 things, if this is an isolated problem, your chances of 'help' is not very good. I had tracked down several people with similar problems to mine and therefore we could prove a pattern (we were all told 'no one else is having that problem').
However if you make enough noise (and you have to be polite about it) then they may just help you out to shut you up. I'm not saying you are, but getting angry or threatening toward them will close the door faster than you'd think.

There are no 'lemon' laws in Australia (unlike the US) and therefore they only have to do what is reasonable to fix the car, they do not have to reimburse/replace/buy the car back. It's a shitty situation that I know too well. Just a suggestion, take the car completely back to stock (zorst, wheels) and drive it, then take it back in so there are no other possible excuses. They will always pick the easiest route...

Write a letter to Mr Senior stating your unhappiness with the work so far and the excuses, be polite. Don't threaten media involvement but suggest it is how far you have been pushed by this matter. CC your letter to your local service manager and also the state manager. If you've already had the 'national service manager' look at it and he says there is nothing wrong then your chances are not looking very good. Have an independent test and report done on your car and a similar car to see if anything shows up with that (lack of power, running badly etc). Get a written report.

Submit the above to Mr Senior with your change over to new GT plan. If he is not interested, then send the report and all the history to TV beat up programs and go hard at making some real noise.
