The manual is a pig to drive in peak hour traffic on the M2, so hopefully I can replace my 2nd car with a nicer Subaru like a Forester or Impreza (Auto). That way I will have best of both worlds.

BTW My left leg is the size of a tree trunk thanks to the stiff clutch on Subaru's.

Well at least now we know that the Subaru with automatic transmission will be the car of choice for one legged veterans and handicaped. :good:

I know a guy who is paraplegic and he drives a Liberty GT wagon... customised to drive with his hands. Well modded, too...

My liberty is an auto simply because of the morning commute (my last lib was a manual and i Hated sitting in traffic). To be honest, i was actually ready to put pen to paper for an evoIX instead but pulled out at the very last minute because i couldn't imagine sitting in it every morning in peak hour. I only use the gt for work/uni anyways. 8)

The Liberty is a manual.

When I need an automatic due to traffic, disability or laziness .. I'll buy a Hyundai Grandeur.

DSG is the best auto around, but it's still just an auto.

Actually it isn't an auto but "an electronically controlled, twin-shaft dual-clutch manual gearbox, without a conventional clutch pedal, with full automatic, or semi-manual control. In simple terms, it is two separate manual gearboxes, contained within one housing, and working as one unit....By using two clutches, fast shifts can be achieved, and the torque converter of a regular automatic transmission is eliminated." (lifted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct-Shift_Gearbox )

I know how it works and I've driven plenty.

It's either the best ever auto or worst ever manual.

Either way, it's a very poor substitute for a good manual gearbox - like the Subaru 6 speed.

My last car was a Toyota Spyder with the SMT clutchless manual. It was quite slow to use. This 6MT is much better to drive, although it's more difficult in some ways and certainly more work. I would not recommend the Toyota in SMT, I'd rather a full manual. I'm sure the Ferarri and BMW proper SMT gearboxes are much better.

Manual for me. When the dealer told me it was the last urban grey 3.0rb they had available, I wasn't too concerned on what transmission it had, as long as I got the right colour. I ended up with the 6 speed and never looked back since 8)
