IR laws...the difference between taking a risk in life and being the man, or 'making do' and working FOR the man - of course you have to actually want to work in the first place to EARN workplace respect. The election proved the 'average aussie' has no idea on what best makes this country work. History will repeat as it always does.......liberal earns global respect, labour flushes it down the toilet. I'm a capitalist and damn proud of it, if you like living in a monetary fueled throw away society best you go out and make a mint vs sitting on your hands whining how expensive everything is, cause its only going to get worse......or move to nimbin and smoke bongs.

i have to saw i have enjoyed reading the posts,its great to read all these interlectual views on the goverments.
i employ 170 staff in a dying indusrty,the IR laws have never been taken advantage of and im not looking forward to krudd and the unions pulling the strings and upsetting the economy.when was the last time you had to que up at the petrol station on a odd day that coinsided with the last numeral of your number plate.what about the distruption on all those buildings sites,the regular teachers strikes,these and others where common occurances under the labour goverment .
i also remeber that i had to have 3 jobs to make my repayments when the interest rates hit 17%.think of what would happen know,back then the average loan was about $100k at 17% now the average loan is $350k work out your repayments at 17%,yes i know the wages have gone up accordingly ,but god help us if krudd and the unions take us back 15 years ago.

This thread has been pretty good, and it's great to see so many supporters for both parties out there and in fair equal value.

I'm personally very pro-liberal and it was sad to see the day come, unfortunately I knew it was going to happen - despite the strong efforts of the Liberal government over the past decade+ they've done very well on all fronts - but you can't please everyone.

People screamed for a change and I give full credit to Rudd for presenting himself as a great individual, who is bright, intelligent, a wife who makes a shitload of cash and is charismatic.. and that's what people voted in! It's a shame because his talents are wasted on a Labour party.. the Labour Machine.

The sad thing is.. Rudd doesn't run the party.. the Labour Machine runs the party and what they (after bickering) decide goes.. goes.. and I'll tell you now.. it's funny that after the election, not many people I've spoken with think he'll be around in a few years.

We won't know what effects the economy will have in a few years time, approx 3-5 years for the changes to show, and by then, you'll be second guessing what to plan for next.

We have a surplus for a reason - and that's not to waste it on the infrastructure for broadbands - that's the telco's job. Somehow I think that i'll have capped/stepped speed plans, with broadband bandwidth lower and more expensive.. and that sad little youtube video won't download any faster due to other physical limitations.

I laugh at people who say school fee's will be lower, seriously.. what do you think HECS/FEE-Helps is? you make a compulsory 4% of your wage back - big deal.. they can slowly mulch that off for however long I live. As if you'd bother to pay it off faster..

We can only sit back and see the changes and hope they're decent.

I'm going to love kicking back watching all the Unions up in riot again as the communist Julie wears the pants of the Labour Party and runs the country. As mentioned, the old IR laws were bullshit.

Workchoices meant that small/medium businesses of under 100 employees could thrive. If you were an employee - how frustrated would you be to not be able to sack someone on certain grounds because laws protected them? and they didn't screw up enough (according to the Law) to allow for dismissal, but would cost you thousands.

Most organisations would be fair enough to give you a few warnings and let you go, if it was written in your contract - then oh well you're a sucker. Learn to negotiate. Stupid people don't need to be protected. Go and fucking work harder like all of us do.

Overall, i'm personally more offended that my own Electoral State of Bennelong - which has been held by Howard for decades, has been very strong in Liberal support. I remember walking around when voting and people would just snob any material that wasn't liberal.. ahh those days..

I was shocked that it was overturned to become a Labour seat. I'm not only personally offended but it was a real kick in the guts to see that happen. People are sheep. People are stupid, though I realistically shouldn't be surprised since there are so many degenerates who live in Bennelong.

As for the odd comments regarding David Hicks - who gives a fuck? honestly.. Why should our government waste MY HARD EARNED TAX to bring him back here? It's bad enough the Royals come here and get a free ride, stay and feed.. what the hell have they contributed too... royal kiss my ass.

I remember just before the election I saw headlines "RUDD WILL APOLOGISE" - OK... you go do that if that makes you feel better... it really doesn't phase me or impress me.

I just hope things don't get worse... some respect will be won from me if Labour do well for the country.
