Nearly everything is in here to start with.

Its not all about power and overtaking up hills My personal criteria was build and engining quality and this time around the R32 came out on top + the 6 speed DSG box is sooo sweet .
I don't think the wife will be looking for a drag race to the shops but if she dose she will have a fair chance of getting the best parking spot

Agreed, basing a cars merits on 0-100 times = tunnel vision.

I agree too but however for an extra 12K or so you would think it would make sum decent power over our already underpowered Libs.

Overall i think they are nice cars. But for the price i expect alot more.

The question to you is would you pay that amount for the R32 or would you prefer your TB STi?

I would definately choose the TB STi. The only thing I love about the golf is the carbon recaros and from what i've been told its an OPTION???

Fair point MY07GT the TB STI was high on the list but this time around we needed a car that was a little smaller than the Liberty we had a Forrester turbo auto which needed a extra one or two gears it was annoying so the WRX was my next choice. But no auto.
The WRX this time around didn't fit the shopping list the R32 did with a few more bangs and whistles like leather Recaros ,sunroof nice dash ,6 speed auto DSG all of which the WRX couldn't give me.

And the sales person didn't go to Subarus school of stupidity

Lol.. I'm not really focusing my criticism of the R32 based on performance. I'm sure it does well for a small car with a big V6 inside it, as it sounds pretty mean, but I don't like VW's.. but I love the Tourag ;)

I have a very personal bias for hatchbacks that extend to all manufactures :] so regardless, I will find anything I can to give shit to hatchbacks.. and I've driven a few on the off-hand just to be fair.. but.. I don't like the short base when driving.. hehe

The DSG is probably one of the best gearboxes around, If i had to choose DSG or manual, i'd get the DSG.

I agree with Phil that for the price tag, I feel there could be so much more.. and better out there.. It's like that new Passat, R36 being released, looks mean in a.. disfunctional kind of way.. I'd hate to see the price tag..

I saw the new Impreza hatch today again, the RS one, those rear tail lights are still tacky as ever.. especially that RS sticker..

Oh well.. here's hoping that the Liberty Gen V's will be spared from their experimental monstrosity.

Nice choice Buddah, my wife and I are tossing up between the R32 Golf and Alfa Brera as a replacement for her SLK 230. Would be interested in hearing your thoughts once you take delivery of the Golf.

Week one update

LOL I purchase the R32 for my wife sad to say she hasn't had the pleasure of driving it yet because I wont let her

Im very impressed with this little car yes little is what it is so far so good no so called rattles Performance wow 6 speed DSG is beautiful all cars should have 6 speed and in a few years all manufactures may catch up to VW One reason we sold the 12 month old Forester XT was the shit house 4 speed auto it was NEVER in the right gear
Handling well I may be pushing it a little to far as it feels very secure with no body roll I just don't know how far it can be pushed till it lets go .Im pushing it further than I would push the Liberty.that may be just the size of the car who knows Once it has a few 1000k a good track day at Wakefield will tell the story
The wife is happy driving the 3RB and so she should but I wont be giving the R32 back for some time LOL

I wish it was 60k was like $70 but what else is their around fort $$
Yes is the answer it is a totally different car on the road every thing works together power band. brakes seating position yes it is a unique car The new WRX is just another sheep in the flock compared to the R32 I think it could be said the R is a true drivers car not a shopping trolley And 30k extra for a extra 2 cylinders that produce the most magnificent sound was worth it

Up date well the wife is still driving the Liberty and she is happy and I'm still driving the R32 and Im VERY VERY happy .This little beast is still giving me that wow factor and I don't think the wife will be driving the Golf for quite a while

The R32 is very tight on the road next to no body roll and the little v6 is a pleasure to have The V6 in this size car is a buzz with beautiful low torque through the 6 speed DSG

Any one the tries to compare the R32 to a WRX is apples and oranges it is in a class of its own

Last week I went past the Subaru holding yards at Wetherill Park and their were 100 s of new WRX s grazing on the grass .I don't think that have been a success I can remember when their was once a 12 week wait for WRX s
