V-Power in NSW is out of stock, and has been for the past few weeks, and will be until at least End of March, due to the Shell refinery coming back from scheduled maintenace and it not operating as per normal. There's a ship full of V-Power coming, but we don't know when it'll get here.

Caltex refinery in QLD is down too, before Christmas, due to a fire.

The Shell refinery in Newport, VIC is about to go for maintenance too... here's to hoping it won't suffer the same fate as NSW, cos then I'll have to use a competitor's product :P (I work for Coles Express headoffice)

Yeah, I think it was some sort of refinery closing or braking down in QLD, and then everyone filling up for the Easter weekend. Shortages everywhere!

Ugh, I eventually had to resort to ... ulp .... VP Power Racing from Shell (the one with the ethanol mix). :shok:

I should have filled up a few drums full of 98 cuz I could be selling it to Franky now for like $10 a litre.

I now keep a bottle of Nulon Octane Booster (Pro Strength) in the Lib.. for that occassion when I can't find 98. One bottle should do two complete fills. Good back-up I reckon.

Compared to running on 95, my records don't show any discernable fuel economy benefit to running 98... but the car sure is more responsive with 98 and it runs more smoothly under heavy acceleration. SO I'm stiking with 98 and buying where it's cheapest using http://www.fuelwatch.com.au (WA only).

Cheers,
Deucer.

I get graphs every week to see how the fuel price cycles in each state :) it's fun to look at.

No, no insider information, sorry... :( I wish I had some too. The price analyst can tell me where the cheapest petrol station is though ;)

Yea I've been having the same dramas.... Driving around looking for +98 these past few weeks whilst the empty light comes on, has certainly been frustrating! V-power has been outta stock for ages (apparently there'll be none for several more weeks). My local BP servo told me that Ultimate should be replenished later on this week. Fingers crossed that this is true :?

Yeah, pretty bad huh Franky... I was driving round and round last time but then could only find 100 Octane.

That was the previous post about 98 and 100.

If you go past Hume Highway and then turn onto King Georges... there is a Shell there that sells 100 Octane. I reckon it will be better then running 95.
