20's?

Can you post some pics? I wanna see how they sit.

I have 18's and for a comfy ride I have pumped them till 37-38psi, so yours might be just a tad more (me thinks).....

It's hard to say, it really depends on your tyre's design.

I run 40psi on my 18s, recently dropped them down to 38.

Running 36 in mine, 18's. Found 38 too hard, but could just be old age.. :-)

Clarence, have you found a servo in the eastern 'burbs with a reliable tyre pressure gauge? I'm tempted to just head down to the nearest bearepaires and get them to do it coz my 36/37 varies in ride quality and handling each time i do it (~weekly)!

Smileys is the silver car in the ACT meet pics, you don't get a clear shot of them but I think we all checked them out the other night. They look big, but not out of control, they sit pretty well too. I think it is the wheel pattern that makes them look quite nice. Not overly in your face as I have seen other 20's [on the gen4] look.

Not really, apparently the gauges at service stations are not really calibrated very well.
I actually work for Coles Express... might make some enquiries as to the details of those tyre gauges ;)

It might seem like a wank, but I run around with a digital tyre pressure guage in the glove box. It's cheap (mine was free with a set) (<$20) and it ensures accuracy no matter where you go. The only way to know if you like running at a certain pressure is to use the same guage each time. I personally run 41 front 40 rear 215/45/17- standard rims, but that is because do a lot of Km, corner too fast and they are only fairly ordinary Maxis tyres. The point is you will know very quickly if you are sure of the pressure you are running... servo guns can easily vary by 3-4 psi, and half the time they are so broken that every time you release the trigger it's different. At least the auto ones are better, but again they can easily vary by 2-3psi servo to servo...
Whiteline rear sway, King lows, Custom quad tip muffs, Subi sport grill, HID's, Boost guage, JL slot port 12" off the standard mac, RB3l 18's ezeflash tune 150.9kw@4w 15psi 36degC...

:-) I've started doing that too, but it's just becoming a pain in the ass to get things level!

I remember at one stage people used to put nitrogen in the tyres as it was more stable at temperature.

I got a digital one too! nice and accurate, only thing it is missing is a release valve IMO.

Simley, you gonna love the Tein Flex, once fitted let it sit for about two weeks cause the springs will settle in and then determine the ride height for you.

Coming from 4x4 land where you've always got a tyre pressure guage in your glovebox, I can concur that it's a pretty good idea! You need to vary your pressure depending on the load in the vehicle, the type of tyre and the type of driving. There's nothing you can rely on but your own tyre guage. I use an analogue one. Also having quality 12volt air compressor in the garage is a bonus. I can fill 'em up when they're dead cold.

I run 36psi cold. They're around 38psi when hot. Driving with a heavy load, I'll add another 1 to 2psi (cold pressures). Tyres are the standard 215/40/18"s for the SpecB.

Cheers,
Deucer.

Me too. I run 36 psi cold on 225/40-18 and also when I had the 225/35-19. I find it's a good compromise for a decently comfortable ride while not squeeling at corners or feeling too sluggish driving around town. Probably up to 38 psi when going long distance.

Smiley, that is one wicked ride. I salute you for having the guts to go 20's on a medium size non-RWD car.
