I'll get the car checked over in the not too distant future (Seemed to be normal this morning) & then we'll see how she runs after a tune

Heat and humidity a your worst nightmare, and the fact you need a tune.

Now you have a great excuse to hurry up and get the tune.

Wish my intercooler spray package would just friggin get here earlier. I want to hook it up already.

In mine I have an ecu display showing real data, including actual water temp. I have seen it range from 83c to 96c, without the gauge moving at all...
Anyway, yesterday afternoon, the external temp was showing 45C, and the hottest shown on the water was 93C, mostly while moving it sat on 87C.

ECUDATASCAN, made by a guy in Sydney. Check elsewhere in the list for a thread on ecu readers available, thats where I found this one from. $300 or thereabouts. Tuck into the top cubby fairly well, only nuisance is the cable dangles a bit near the throttle pedal.
Peak speed seen.....peak boost 15.8 psi, peak advance 50.5 degrees....

Tonight on the way home, in ambient of 45C, I saw temps of 91-95 on the freeway. This surprised me a little , as it was mostly steady speed and load, and I didnt notice any wind.
Saw a d!ckhead in a small something doing 100kph with a space saver wheel on the front....

Thats about normal. Yes ecu readers are Very useful. Sometimes water can hit 100c stopped in peak hour Hot weather. The standard temp guage won't start moving untill about 103-105c. If it goes over that then get your car's cooling system checked to avoid any damage.
radiator/fans/coolant/thermostats/caps etc etc.

Last year on new years EVE make that year before as in new years eve 2007

It was very HOT & I was driving around slowly & discovered my gauge just touching the RED so i jumped out to check WTF was going on & the fans had stopped working . & the same as you as soon as i picked up speed the temp went down.
naturally i checked the fuse & it was OK so i took it to Subaru as soon as i could, & they replaced the pair of them under warranty

i got the pivot racing monitor.

i get the same results. degitally it changes, but the OEM gauge don't move at all.

Yeah, Matt. First thing to check is to make sure both fans are running. When the engines start heating up they should fire up. If not, first thing is to check the fuse. I remember when I had an overheat problem on my Honda. Checked fluid levels and for leaks. Couldn't find anything wrong! Realised the fans weren't working, and it turned out to be a blown 10 cent fuse.

this is what i use... water temp was 96 ...thermos kick in perfectly temp drops to 88
