Gear shift waving in the wind

Postby Little Bear » Wed Jul 24, 2024 5:58 pm

Hi Folks,
I have recently been asked to fix up my late uncle's 1992 GX Liberty 4WD sedan, it is immaculate inside and out with the exception that the gear shift waves around in the breeze.
You can select all gears and it drives perfectly in Hi and Low range.
Someone has suggested that the linkages/bushes need to be replaced, if so where do I find supplies for this given the car is over 30 years old?
Any guidance or helpful suggestions would be very much appreciated. :D

Peter at Corgiwerx is the chap to talk to, although I'm not sure if he does kits for that old a model.

Hmm, this decoder thinks that is a 2014 Liberty
https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/check-lo ... R0EJ018789
(although the "Build sheet" at the foot of the page says otherwise...)
For a 1992 car, the tenth digit should be "N", not "E".

J = Japan
F2 = FHI factory
B = Legacy/Liberty
C = body type (??)
7 = engine type (2.5T)
C = model type and trim (??)
R = Restraint (??)
0 = check digit
E = Model year. (E => 2014, 1992 should be “N”)
J = Transmission (??)
018789 = Serial number
