Are gen 4 wagons overpriced (GT/Spec.B)

Postby 3.0R Liberty » Sat May 18, 2019 5:39 pm

I'm looking for a first car, I really like the gen 4 wagons, mainly post face-lift, but most of them cost $15-$20 grand, all with over 100,000 km.

I would've thought they'd be more in the $10-$15 grand range.

In your opinions, are these cars worth that much, if not what do you think I should be paying for an 07-08 GT-B wagon (my preferred one although happy to get a different model if its a good deal)

Thanks for the help,
Hopefully future GT-B owner

No they're not worth 15-20k, yes they're worth 10-15k but people will leave them sitting on Carsales for months dreaming.

Bought mine 16.9k a bit pricey but at 85k/kms with full service history and less the gst which in my case is deductable it became bearable... :D and all others looked at were 150 to 250 k for only a few thousand less. Also owned suby back in the 2000s so was familiar with model

I did find one with 160km on it, but it has a long mod list, and from what I've read I should be avoiding those, shouldn't I? Although it does come with a full service history and receipts from all work done to it.

Since this would be my first car, I am very new to this, but looking to get more involved in the car scene. So I have no idea what any of the items on the mod list mean, or whether its something that would make the car more desirable, or decrease the value.

If someone wants to look at the link below, and help me with whether the owner has just done very light mods or completely changed the car that would be great (or if I should avoid this one and keep looking). Thanks

Edit: Obviously the asking price is quite high, but if I could get them down to 14k-ish would that seem like a fair price?

Mod list doesn't look too crazy but I don't understand '- VF 34 180,000km'. It's got a VF34 turbo with 180 000k's on it? It's been on another car for that long?

I guess so. Would you know how this turbo compares to the stock one (a VF46 I think). Also is that a lot of km for a turbo, should i be worried?

Not sure how it compares. I would check if that is the case first, what I have suggested. If the turbo does have 180k on it I don't know how much life it would have left...

The seller says it came off another car with 170 000km so it would be up to roughly 180 000km by now, and claims they've seen ball bearing turbos last up to 280,000km. Also says no issues/ leaks and all that.
