c*cksuckers.

 I swear that happens to me on a daily basis. But I guess that's normal here in Sydney.

You should try it on a motorbike. Guarantee that they won't see you, and you can double or treble the grief they want to give you because you're some suicidal, lane splitting menace to society

With all due respect I see quite a few suicidal, lane splitting menace to society riders on the roads in peak hour especially on the freeway that deserve all the abuse they get...But I know they are the few bad apples on the tree :)

absolutely, there are plenty of guys out there who push the envelope too far IMO. In particular I was astounded at some of the high speed lane splitting I have seen in Melbourne  But that is just the mode in which motorcyclists are noticed to misbehave on the roads.

Other motorists misbehave and generally act like tools just as badly and more often but are generally ignored or, if noticed, quickly forgotten

Almost wiped out a motorcyclist this morning  - lucky for him I check my mirrors before I swap lanes as he thought it was a good idea to boot it up between lanes at twice the speed limit  ... I can guarantee he wouldnt have made it to work this morning if it had been the typical 'lazing lane swapper' I see everyday....

I'm a rider as well :D I know how dangerous it can be. A good mate of mine just broke his back because some dumb b!tch pulled out in front of him without looking (Like she pulled out of a side street). He was bloody lucky he wasn't speeding otherwise it could've been worse.

Not sure about the rest of the states, but they actually made lane splitting legal here in NSW. Providing the traffic is stopped. I know there are a lot of riders that will lane split at any time.

Personally I do not lane split at all because the the first I did it, some guy purposely tried to run me off the road! I was lane splitting when the traffic was stopped so I was doing the right thing... Technically :P

Best advice I can give to any rider (I know there are a few on here) is to have a f#ck off loud exhaust... Besides good gear, its the best investment you'll ever make to your riding safty IMO.

Im pretty sure thats the law in WA too... doesnt stop most bikeriders here though...

dont get me wrong, I always try to move across and give them more room where I can but there is always going to be a minority that will give bike riders a reckless title (as with anything I guess  )

Im going to start a rucus by saying this however he should not be speeding full stop end of conversation. If you speed, its YOUR responsibility be it in a car, a motorbike or even a pushbike for all I care! (and yes, I have sped in the past, and no doubt will in the future, but I am aware that it is MY responsibility, and I am endagering both mine and others lives)

I have spent a LOT of time on the roads thanks to various jobs and yes there is a "few" bad apples.. Sad thing is, I see more "bad apples" than I see good, lane splitting, excessive speeding, and general arrogance on the road, some of my best mates are bikers, so Im not being a prick, just think that the stigma is often earnt!

On a side note, I am glad to hear that your mate didnt sustain worse injuries, I was hit by a bus some years ago during a cycling race, so I can understand the pain & anger that he must be going through!

End of rant! (puts on flame proof suit)

Heh-heh. That is until they start screaming down the suburb streets at full speed at 2 in the morning and waking up the kid(s). Or is that just in the western suburbs? :D

+1 mate

I speed. I think we all do from time to time. Let's face it, we're all rev heads here. If we weren't, we wouldn't be modding & we'd all have awesome fuel ecco.

On a bike I think it'sa little different. If you crash on a bike because of speeding you're really only stuffing yourself, in a car, you can take out other people.

There's always a few bad apples on the road. Driving in peak hour in Syd, I almost get into a stack every day because someone doesn't look or indicate when changing lanes or flat out doing the wrong thing. As Noozle, we were driving out to visit Phat one evening & some guy straight out ran a red & almost took us out!

I think I'd better stop not actually otherwise I could just keep going & going & going & going... :P

Not so much, a good friend of mine nearly died when a motorcyclist decided he would see what his terminal velocity was in a quite backroad in Tasmania.. what he didn’t realise was this road had an intersecting road, where my friend was driving across (as he had right of way).. the bike(and rider) went straight through the hiace van that my friend was driving, instantly killing the cyclist, and flipping the van (bike literally went in one side, out the other) Luckily my friend only sustain minor injuries (and a lot of shock).

How ever.. Think of two other possible scenarios:

- The driver of the van was say 50cm earlier in the intersection, both him and the passenger would be dead
- The Van was a minibus, most likely at least 4 people would be dead, and many more injured..

The fact that motorcyclists only hurt themselves is a myth..

I was really refering to motor bikes / riders on the hwy & speeding etc. Doing it where there are intersections, stop signs & traffic lights etc is just dumb. Not saying I haven't tried it before, but it is 100% not a smart thing to do.

Bikes can cause serious damage to others given the right (Or should I say wrong) situation - IE Head on, T-bone etc.

Just imagine the damage that would have been caused were it a car speeding and not the bike and you won't need to worry about 50cm either way.....

A small scratch like that is pretty easy to repair without a full blown bumper respray and blend to surrounding panels.... which is what your panel beater will undoubtedly advise you do... because it will cost you $800!

The Touchup Guys, http://www.touchupguys.com.au/ or any similar mobile outfit can fix this pretty easily for you.... and for less than your insurance excess.

Maybe have a look through the Yellow Pages, or ask the scratch & dent repairers or car detailers who they'd recommend. It's always better to make contct through a recommendation.

(No... I don't work for one. But have used one in the past who did a good job).

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
deucer.
