Why Liberty?

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

Isn't that about the only thing that is actually missing from the GEN4's?

I had an RS Liberty, then went to the GT Foz and have now come back to the GT Liberty. Wanted to stick with Subie and the GT Wagon was the only one to go for that had what I was looking for.

I agree that if treated well these cars are bullet proof.

Ditto :)

Have to agree with Kevlar, can't say I notice the boxer burble on my stock Liberty.

The Lib is my 5th subie. First one was an 1800 L series. Last one was a rex.

Luv the AWD, handling, turbo go (but rex was better :P ). Great touring cars - and brilliant for trips to the snow as Trieu has noted. Fun to drive.

Most important. Subies have character. Who wants to drive whitegoods on wheels? Not me.

To be honest, The liberty wasn't my first choice... for me, it was down to three different cars (Very different).
I should also add, that I'm a Toyota man first and a Subaru man second.

HSV R8 - Would have been much faster (straight line) and probably handled pretty well, considering how far they've come with the VE, and it looks pretty good. Suffering in build quality, and resale value.

Lexus IS250 Sports - The best build quality out of all of the cars, but just didn't have enough power. The fact that they didn't bother to release the IS350 here is further proof that Lexus Australia aren't committed to the Australian market, and I no longer want a part of it. Was quite a bit more expensive then the R8 or the STI spec Liberty.

Liberty STi tuned - Much better performance then the Lexus in any form, though at the cost of the final build quality (It's very high in any case, but there's a rattle coming from my rear left door that wouldn't be there with the lexus). Had the best resale value compared to the two previously listed cars. It also handles nicer then the R8.

If I could, I'd convert the liberty to RWD though and I'd never worry about it again.

Yeah, but only on the pre 07 models (ie 2.0 twin scroll turbo) one of the reasons i sold my 05 GT for the 07 GT :)

It's still a boxer, get dem pipes, get dem burble.. slow it down a bit but..

comparing a liberty to a lexus is like comparing levis and D&G.. however, gen 4 'tuned but' just doesn't do it for me... the my08 styling yehaa now cmon sue baru make one with a proper forged set-up! then somebody put a big garret on it..

you fellas are a bit soft when it comes to pistons and stuff.. but an my08 rex engine in a liberty? hmm

No offence but we all know that the motor is still a boxer but its not as easy as "get dem pipes, get dem burble"...

You think it would take more than an ecu reset to cope? Like a tune too?

Much more than that - once you alter the equal/tuned headers, the twinscroll turbo won't work as intended.

You'll need:
the headers
new turbo
all the parts to fit the new turbo
up pipe
Full re-tune or new ecu.
