Auto gearbox: shifting between N and D

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

+ 1 for the launch, I chirped all fours last time I tried... probably not too good for the car though :)

Yeah mine clunks loud on a steep hill.... doesn't sound too nice when the oldies are in the car, they think there is something broken.

I find mine jerks all the time, so I'm not sure if it's 'normal' or not.

What's standard idle? I don't think so... I think it sits at about 700ish rpm?

Std test for either torque converter health, or engine health - hold on the brake in D, WOT, note peak revs. Manuals will specify what rpm you should get - if its low, suspect engine power down, high suspect converter, or fluid. Dont do it for more time than it takes to get an rpm reading though, as fluid can overheat quickly. Called converter stall rpm.

So does anyone have the service manual for the Australian- or Japanese-spec Liberty?
