Is there anything in the JDM market that can help us here?

My Ipod do0es not seem to go loud in the stereo through the car.

Even with the Ipod on full loudness I have to have the stereo on 30 to really hear it and this is for songs downloaded from itunes and downloaded from CDs.

Actually, the problem might be that the line-in is too high an impedance for the iPod.
Some MP3 players are designed specifically for driving a headphone type load, and won't output full volume to a higher resistance.
The solution might be as simple as placing a pair 1k resistors to ground, one from each channel.
