The gradual decline in driving standards

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

buddah.. not sure about other places but i think in qld that law has been abbolished.. well i never see the trucks and buses with the 100 speed limited sticker on the back of them like there used to be. maybe they viewed it as more dangerous becuase of the 110 speed limit in alot of places?

brisbane is a great place to watch people cut people off, run red lights, fail to indercate, and even drive the wrong way up one way streets or across one way bridges just livens up peoples days so much doesnt it.

GT-B,

Your post actually doesn't relate to anything I said but if it helps, I've generally found coach drivers to be more well mannered than truck and metropolitan bus drivers.
Now that I'm in North America, I'm greatly concerned about raised pick-up trucks and owners of wedge shaped vehicles. Seriously, not only do you have to be concerned about one hitting you in an accident, they stand a good chance of driving over you at the same time!

The 100km/h limit applies to all vehicles over 4.5t GVM in ALL states and territories of Australia. This however only apply to vehicles first registered after 01/01/88.

To offer an explanation as to highway speeding (NOT an excuse), truckies generally get paid per KM. If they do 5km/h over the limit, thats another 60km they can drive in the 12hr day they are allowed. On the downhill if they can get a few extra clicks they will.

When I said about going faster, I was referring to the fact that 9ish out of 10 road users have no idea that their speedo is set at the factory to overread by 8-10%. They take their indicated 80km/h for example as gospel when they are in reality doing just a little over 70. The speedos in heavy vehicles are regularly calibrated and normally accurate to within 1 or 2 k's so we are stuck behind knowing we are travelling far from the limit- something we do not have time to do.

As we all say, a proper speed limited vehicle SHOULD NOT be able to tailgate a car on the highway.
