Hi all,
Just wondering, if I buy tyres from outside Australia, is it gonna be a problem?
Since tyres in Australia is expensive, I want to import tyres from Indonesia, which is very cheap.
I want to know the regulation or the law for safety and etc. Afraid if I'm gonna get any warnings or anything if lets say someday a police check on my car
Thank you

they might not comply with ADR's.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. ADR.
Eventhough that tyre brand is in Australia, but in here much more expensive(I guess).
Brand is GT-Radial, who made for Michelin in Indonesia.
Btw, I got an option here. For a budget between 800-1000 dollars, I can get 18" SpecB Wheels+Firenza ST08 Tyres or I can get 17" Impreza RS 2010+Bridgestone RE050's. Which one should I choose? I found a review in Australia, mostly honda's,rex's owners seems to be happy with the Firenza ST08. But on the other hand, in europe, people complaining it's really noisy. I don't mind change to 18", but if I get crap tyres, it will ruin the whole thing.
Plus for 18" wheels, which one should i choose, SpecB or CS9 wheels? I'm interested in cruisn wheels. Looks really good
Thanks all
Naldo

If you're intending on importing secondhand tyres, there are a lot of hoops to jump through.

It's a brand new tyres clarence. Only import to australia.
But anyway, I think I'm going to buy tyres here, only now I need to upgrade to 18" wheels.
Thanks

Unless you're looking at importing more than one set for resale, it's not worth the effort.

Less if you don't intend on stopping or cornering

Well I get $400 for 4 tyres, but it's firenza st-08, copy cat of yokohama S-drive.
Don't know whether its good or not, but now I'm thinking about my spare tyres that actually still 17".
Still confuse to pick the 18" SpecB/CS9 or stick to 17" with RE050's from tempe tyres, with the same size like stock cars.
Thanks

They sell the spare wheel for the 18's too from Wheelpower

Yeah, but wheel power is 100 dollars more expensive than tempe.
And I only get 4 tyres, need to find another 1.
Might take 17" wheels. Not worth extra costs if something happen in the roads+it's AWD(since I read in general chat that different front/rear tyres can break something in the AWD system and need to change for $1500).
Thanks

Don't be too worried about that, if it's only for a short distance to get it to a repair place it should be fine.
Btw your more indecisive than my missus lol
