new tyres for 08 3rb Wagon

Postby nugsy » Mon Jul 12, 2010 11:48 pm

Hi All,

I just bought a my08 3RB wagon and all tyres are totally scrubbed and needing replacements. I am new to Liberties and would love some advice on which tyres to purchase and which size. That being said i'm looking a decent tyre and decent price, if thats possible :D

You'll get 100 posts and as many different opinions, multiply that by 10 if you use the search function.

Value for money? 215/45R18 Kumho KU31s are $150 each here.

You might find cheaper, but you can pay $400 for tyres that aren't as good.

Ahh, good suggestion Tony. The Kumho's are excellent for that price range. I had the Ku31's before and they were quiet, comfortable, grippy, and provided great handling. And at near $150, are very good value.

I saw an ad in the RAC magazine last night, it is an American company who makes tyres which are guaranteed to last between 60-80,000kms (depending on which size you buy).

Even though you aren't meant to compare treadwear ratings between manufacturers, they did just to give an idea, and these tyres were about 3 x what a regular tyre was. I wonder if the traction rating was 1/3 the amount too :P

I don't think there's any need to create a new thread so I'm answering your question in your original thread.

If you change all 4 tyres to 225/40R18 at the same time it won't be a problem. Many run this size and Subaru also used this size on some model years of the "tuned by STI" Liberty.

Click on the link I gave above.

The guys I linked to will do them in 215/45R18 for $150 and will freight them anywhere in Australia. They'd still be well under $200 a corner, fitted to your car.

It doesn't get much righter than that.

Hopefully they can do 225/40/18 For around that mark. All around Adelaide they are charging $250inc fitted and balance, so would still be cheaper getting them freighted over...
