With the whitelines, is the first coil of the front springs (the first from the top) smaller than the rest of the coils under it?

The only thing i can think of where a lowering spring will lower a 06 but not a 07 but still fit is a wrong spring design.

Also, un-sprung were the whitelines and std springs the same height?

This has me really puzzled!

Can confirm that
Made a trip to Canberra from Melbourne and bottomed out a couple of times coming back on the Hume. It certainly woke the family up  :)

It has happened a couple of other times besides that, first time it happened I clipped a kerb and thought I had destroyed one of the rims

It's not happened often enough though for me to consider it a problem.
Much prefer to put up with the occasional occurrence and have the lowered effect :D

Lets see what PHAT can come up with with his investigations into Tein springs.

I can see a group buy coming up!

Phat told me the Tiens should lower the car by 25mm.

Thats the ones im ordering from him.

The sti springs should lower the car. The t/b Sti's looks lowered.

Interested in seeing how this pans out.

Thanks Phil,

When are you getting your springs and which Tiens exactly?

You've also got a lip haven't you? Interested to see what the clearance is like with this set up.

Thanks for your input,

Michael.

Thanks Phil,

I've also got a lip coming next weekish but also want to drop the car a bit so I'll be very interested in how you go. PHAT is investigating the Tien situation for me, as I'm convinced the pinks aren't dropping the '07s at all compared to specB's standard height.

Keep us informed if you don't mind.

Hi btbam

You made the wrong choice with the KW Variant 2 coilovers if you are considering going too low, as you'll run out of shaft travel.

Due to this type of coilover having no base height adjustment, all adjustment is made through the spring. This means that the more you lower the car the less travel you will have in the shock. Therefore you will have less control of the car's movment in the shock, also the more the shock will bottom out causing damage to your shocks. As another member on this forum has just discovered this recently using the same style of coilovers(he may like to share his experiences with you)

If only i had a diagram to explain to you the difference between the 2 styles of coilovers. (If someone out there can explain better, pls do or post pics)

Michael
