Likewise on the customer service.

The Lib front rotor will be a much wider ventilated design than that (which looks like something off an old Kingswood it is so thin  )

-edit- hang on, is that a rear rotor?

Try contacting Phat gt and getting a price on dixcel rotors and pads to suit,

Btw while your changing your brakes you should consider better brake fluid

George has already been speaking with Tony Dunn (Gentle man who looked after so many of us at V-Sport)... Tony is now operating his own company - Will get all the details & post for everyone at a later stage.

V-Sport should still be able to help you or anyone out, but loosing Tony was a big loss IMO.

George, as Mr King of Wakefield Drift has suggested, I'd suggest you speak to Phat GT about getting some Dixel gear... This brand is used by a lot of our forum members & seems to have a fantastic reputation... I may be mistaken, but I think they are cheaper (Or comparable at least) then the more commonly used DBA gear.

Best thing about Dixcel IMO, is that you can get rotors & pads that match, which is always an advantage :D

We can talk at great length about it when we catch up this week my friend!

Will be interested in those details as my brakes are probably due for a flush. Especially after copping a right royal hiding in Victoria a month ago

After much deliberating I have settled on buying a set of pads from QFM (queensland friction materials) who are reportedly the supplier of racebrakes pads that are sold under their own branding. (I am advised by numerous people that the A1RM are the same if not better compound than the coveted Racebrakes RB74).

I also looked at Hawk HP+ and HPS, and also Bendix Street/Road/Track but they are not worth the extra cost.

These are the specs of the QFM pads I am intending to get:

Model / CoF cold / CoF hot / min-max degC
HPX - 0.41 - 0.42 - 0-550
A1RM - 0.40 - 0.48 - 0-780

I will be running racing DOT4 fluid (312degC rating).

At this stage I am still running stock rotors (they have only had 50,000Kms on them), but when they wear out I am looking at two options:

a) RDA Gold passivated slotted rotors on the front, and RDA standard rotors on the rear
b) DBA4000 slotted on the front and DBA standard on the back. It's good that with their slots they don't cut them right to the edge now which was causing cracking.

I have one important question though, and that is whether I should be running a matched pair of pads front/rear, or whether I should be running the A1RM on the front and HPX on the rear. My primary concern is that I do NOT want the back to out-brake the front when I am on the track. The front A1RM pads are reportedly very robust but on stock rotors there is still a chance they will fade out at Sandown.

I'll have a set of DBA5000 slotted fronts for sale soon, and DBA Gold rear slotted rotors.

The fronts are going to be close to needing a machine, but you can still make use of the top hat.

Prices to come soon once my upgrade is complete ;)

Oh yeah, you got tiny girly brakes
well, if anyone has boy sized brakes and wants a rotor upgrade, let me know...

Meh, I'd rather have small brakes and to use them rather than have big brakes just for show 8)

Found a great tech paper: http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_br ... ance.shtml

It kind of answers my question but as always more information just leads to more questions  . Still interested if anyone runs same spec pads front and rear or do they run lower spec pads on the back to prevent aforementioned scenario.

Thanks for that link Jim... I think I lost 20min of work time reading that thing :(

I think the takeaway from the article above (apart from "buy Stoptech brakes!") is to keep the front and rear braking abilities consistent. However I don't think changing pads will affect the braking performance so significantly that you *have to* change the rear pads to suit. In a perfect world, you should be best off increasing both front and rear stopping power to keep the ratios constant - too much front bias will cause the fronts to lock up, and vice versa, so the easiest way is to increase the side which needs more force :P

Also remember that they are talking about relatively extreme situations where you e-brake and turn at the same time.

There is no doubt a formula which can be used to calculate brake torque at the front and rear axles given standard conditions (non overheating). In my case I am considering fitting front pads which have about 12% more friction than the back pads. Other than that all other aspects of the stock setup remain the same (except for lower ride height and decreased weight transfer due to stiffer springs and dampers).

Without getting too ahead of ourselves, I'm just keen to hear what other people have done with their pad choices, and on road/track experiences.

You should be interested in the answer too since you would want your Brembos to be set up optimally ;)
