wheels or suspension first???

Lol im in a predicament...

The suspension shops say I should do suspension first...

The wheel shops say I should do wheels first...

Clearly they all just want my money...

I was leaning towards coil overs first as they are cheaper than saving for wheels, and a low car on stockys looks good, where as a jacked up car on rims looks shit...

Opinions please...

This makes me happy :)

Can I also add how shit/annoying/cant think of the correct work, bob jane tmarts is lol...

I walked in to look at rims, the guy says if i get 19s there is only one tyre on the australian market under $500 that will fit ;l...
I showed him a picutre of connoisseur 151c's on Ariths car (without saying what they were).
He says I can get you those, and shows me Enkei GTC01's ;l...

Just to see how much of a nub he was, I asked him what size the wheels were on ariths car, he told me 18s lollllolllol

Anyway, these enkeis he was showing me were only 10 spoke and not even the same colour.

I was in histerics.

In a perfect world where suspension is tuned properly, your suspension will be set up to suit the weight of your car at that corner and the weight of the wheel. In that perfect world, if you were to change the weight of the wheels, you'd have to change the suspension to suit. In this case you would choose the wheels you want first, then get your suspension set up to suit them.

Realistically though, if you're sensible with your wheel choice (ie don't go for huge cheap chromies that weigh a tonne) most people won't be able to pick the difference on a road car. With this in mind, and given your car isn't a race car, I'd probably go for suspension first, it's much better seeing a lowered car on stock wheels than a car with a fist-sized wheel-to-guard gap and blingy wheels :)

Personally I prefer the GTC-01's to the 151c's. By the same token I'm happy for everyone to not like the Enkei's. Might make them a touch more affordable for me down the track

Both have its pros and cons, it's a hard choice, but I'd probably say suspension first, and then get wheels to suit.

To be honest you could do it either way just as easily (or difficult).

Like everyone else, suspension first. You gain the benefits of the car handling and performing better, and it will still look decent with stock wheels while you save up for a new set.

But if you got wheels first, the attention to be drawn to that area, and people will notice nice, low profile wheels and HUGE 4WD fender gap. Looks silly IMO.

LOL! Man, you're pretty harsh. :D Advans are JDM, and you can't expect those places to be well versed on wheels not available to the general Australian market. Plus if he thought they were Enkei's, which only come in 18" max for the Subarus, then it would explain his assumption they were 18's.
