just wondering.. will the brembo brakes off say an 02 STI WRX.. fit my MY05 GT Lib? (yes the rear will need adaptors and the special rotors) but are all brembo's the same?

Nissan Brembo's?
Mitsy EVO Brembo's?
Subaru Brembo's?

also.. where would you look at buying brembo's? and what rough price should i be expecting for everything?

cheers for any imput guys.

Tony

There are a lot of different Brembos. The OEM ones are rubbish compared to others, like the Gran Turismo calipers.

edit: All a huge step up from stock, so you probably won't notice it :P

the mount points are different. they are technically interchangeable, just required massive amount of mucking around and makes it cost prohibitive.

there are heaps of options out there other then brembos.

Tony, the front Brembo's off an 02 STi should fit straight on - rotors as well. The Calipers even on the current STI's will fit, the rotors won't though.

What are you looking for out of your brakes? A good step up in performance with added bling? Go 4 potters, Brembo probably being one of the easiest to find options though not necessarily the best or cheapest.
A good step up in performance with no need to look bling? A good set of rotors and high performance pads with your stock calipers should be plenty for you(Dixcel pads and rotors have a good rep, DBA rotors and Hawk Ceramic pads another good option though maybe a touch behind on day to day driving)
Ultimate track day/targa braking performance? Chase around any car builders in your area for advice on braking options. The Subaru Brembo calipers and good discs are probably going to be the minimum IMO

Paint your stock calipers gold and stick Brembo decals on them, upgrade the rotors and pads. Spend the leftover money on hoes!

I think that price is near the higher range for a full second hand Brembo set. Are your wheels going to clear them?

caution on what your STi your mate has the later models have a 114.3 PCD.

3K is ok IF the rotors & Pads are new and the calipers have been rebuilt.

There's a thread on RS25.com about the Evo (can't remember what model) Brembo's requiring not much of a "massage" to bolt on, and they are a hell of a lot cheaper than the Subaru ones.

the paint on the evo ones are well known for coming apart.

to be exact, the clear comes comes off the red, giving them a pink look.
