So the time has come for new tyres.

Current wheel setup:
2008 GTB w/ Prodrive PFF7's and stock Bridgestone tyres. Car isn't lowered at all

Now the 215/45 r18 tyres look too stretched on the 18x8 rim and i know that there are guys on here running 8" rims.

The question i have is, will running 235/40 r18 fail on suspension components or cause rubbing? Trying to stay as close as possible to stock rolling diameter.

With standard ride height and camber, you'll probably be fine. What was the offset of the wheel by the way? I know swingn has 225/40 tyres on the same wheel as you without problems. His is lowered too so I'd say you'll be fine.

Offset is +51. 225/40's are 14mm shorter in height than stock, don't want to go with smaller overall wheel height.

215/40/18 certainly would have had a bit of stretch, however if you dont want stretch or to really go smaller rolling diameter, then I'd suggest 235/40/18 should be ok. With a 51 offset you *shouldnt* have any rubbing issues, and its only 7mm shorter than stock.

**EDIT**

Just had another thought - 215/45/17 is stock tyre size on earlier GTs (i.e. mine) so I'm going 225/40/18 on an 18x8 +45 rim which will increase my rolling diameter by 33mm.... yet its still 40mm shorter than your 18s!! 225/40/18 is still probably the better size for an 18x8 I believe.

yeah, I realise there will be a difference in height, the 225 comment was in relation to scrubbing and width which if you are sticking close to the 215/45R18 OD is the problem you are looking at. Anyway, a width of 235 with an offset of +51 won't be a problem on the guards. might cause a bit of a scrub on the inside on full lock with a bit of suspension compression (I know my 215/45R18 Pilot Preceeda's do ) but I'm not sure that's a huge issue for most of the time you drive it

Damn! That front bumper is huge!

I have 235/40s on 8.5 wide +46 wheels and can tell you front strut clearance will be touch and go depending on tyre and wheel alignment specs.

Let's just say if you want more than -1 deg camber and are using Kumho KU36s, I reckon you "might" "just" foul on the trailing side of the front spring perch.

Best to find someone who will test fit and change them if it doesn't work.
