Hey guys,

Just got word that my rims are coming tomorrow with installation next Tuesday. John from Wheels World just offered me the first set of ADO8's in WA (if not AUS) instead of the original S-drives I initially had planned. With around a $65 increase a corner for the tyres, was wondering about your thoughts on the ADO8's and how they compare to the S-Drives. All I know is that the Lotus Elise comes stock with the ADO7's with word that the ADO8's surpass the 7's.

Any input would be great as they has given me till Tuesday when I bring my car in to consider which one I want

The ADVAN Neova AD08 bridges the gap between street tyres and road tyres.

Street tyres work well when cold. Conventional rubber compounds reach their limit during high speed driving as heat softening quickly saps the tyres ability to grip the road. Pyrometer testing suggests this happens around 40 degrees Celsius. Using street tyres on the track can lead to slower lap times and rapid tread wear.

R-spec race tyres, on the other hand, need to be driven hard to generate heat which helps them grip the race track. The heat range they work best in is usually 60 to 100 degrees Celsius. Race tyres work best in the first heat cycles and then performance begins to drop off. Using race tyres on the street can waste heat cycles.

Yokohama ADVAN R-spec tyres

R Spec indicates to me that they're not going to be anything like the S-Drives. Not the best choice for the road IMO

From what I gather these tyres are meant to also be good for the streets. The R-spec represent racing tyres which is not what the ADO8's are. However the ADO8's can be used on track as it still grips at higher temps.

P.S - S-drives are hardly taxi tyres

ahh ok. I'll be interested to hear some comments on them as they apparently will be available in my size
