Pedders Sports Ryder Low

Postby hieu1976 » Mon Mar 05, 2007 10:06 pm

Pedders Sports Ryder Low fitted on the weekend (along with Whiteline rear swaybar - thanks Phat!, HiTech quad tip exhaust, Sti boot lip spoiler).

Exhaust is awesome.. sounds bloody great, and definitely makes the car pull harder (particularly at lower revs). 2.5" system.

Bad idea IMO... i'm surprised that you find that the car handles better with the kings lowered springs and std shocks.

The place i got them done did not recommend getting different suspension.

I have noticed you feel the bumps in the road a bit more, but it corners a lot better now, and is much smoother.

No offence or anything but i find that strange... The std shocks are made to work well at the std height and srping rate. Once you change to lowered springs, you put the std shocks out of their optimum operating range and the lowered springs will have a different stiffer rate (if it doesn't have a stiffer rate you will not notice any improvements in handeling).

The car will probably corner better at moderate speeds, but i'm willing to bet that at high speeds you car feels a bit 'hoppy' ?

I got pedders sports ryders in the 2.0 and I think you've nailed the description of "being hoppy at higher speeds" perfectly. a car that had quite a bit of roll before now sits very flat through corners but if the speed is up or if the surface is less than good, it .......kinda... well.... hops...a bit?!? I didn't know how good it could be until I started taking the same corners in the other car. even at higher speeds it still feels much smoother.

yeah, but in the end, it's not worth replacing perfectly good shocks with expensive ones so it won't be hoppy when going round fast corners.
for the time being, and the price i paid, i'm happy with the slight improvement in handling and looks.

i do understand where your coming from though, and it is a good point...
