Hey guys,

Im looking at fitting a set of brembo's to my GT in the next month or so. The front bolt on but the rears dont. At the moment there are 2 options:

1. Fit caliper adapters and use the special DBA/Brembo rotors. Downside is that you are stuck with these rotors and they are also pricey. Also for future replacement you will need to buy the same special rotors and hope they never stop production. Aluminum brackets will set you back about US$250 shipped. Rotors are approx AU$650 - Total ~AU$970

2. Fit caliper adapters and larger handbrake shoes. IMO the better option as you can then use 04 STI rotors and this gives you a much broader choice. Plus they are cheaper which is something you will appreciate when you wear through your first set of rotors. Also you this method will allow you to run rotors other than DBA/Brembo and match the front to the rears. Shoes and Adapters will set you back US$555 shipped, there is a US$50 core refund when you return your old shoes. Rotors will set you back AU$380 depending on brand. - Total ~AU$1020 (taking into account US$50 core refund)

Ive been speaking to OnkelRacing on legacygt.com about the possibility of a group buy and he has agreed this may be possible. At the moment he has quoted me US$525 which would make both options cost more or less the same.

There may also be other vendors we can price this with. So if your interested in switching to brembo's for the rear then add a post below. If we get enough people (min 3) we may be able to get even better pricing. At the moment I would probably be looking at buying this stuff in approx 4 weeks time. OnkelRacing has also told me he is going to publish a new thread tomorrow on legacygt.com I'll post a link to this when he does.

I bought a set of the adapter rotors from DBA... seemed like the easiest and least painful option...

Worst comes to worst, I can do the shoe changeover later on down the track when I wear out these rotors!

If I ever get them anyway!

Hey Gordon, I bought a set of DBA rear rotors for the STi upgrade yesterday... cost is $590 for the two.

Easy to fit and I can return them back to the stock brakes very quickly. For me option 1 was easier :)

Hey Gordy,

I'll be in the same boat soon. I was only just starting to research this so thanks for the post. I'll look into it a bit more.

Cheers

Completely agree option 1 is the easiest! But my wheels dont arrive for 6 - 8 weeks so I'm in no rush... Plus I still need to find a set of calipers :)
