Warped slotted rotor - anyone ever done this to one rotor?

Postby benvw » Sat Jun 13, 2009 3:14 pm

Hi guys,

I bought some dba slotted rotors and the front left has warped which is a little strange. Anyone seen a proplem like this before. I thought it might have been something wrong with caliper but there is plenty of brake dust on both side indicating that they are both working and the car isn't pulling to one side which you would expect if the capiler on one side wasn't working.

Funny you should post this. I know its not a suby, but just yesterday i found out my calais has done the exact same thing...the front left rotor warped and the rest are fine, no uneven ware to pads or anything...just that rotor....he has no idea why its done it to the calais either :|

DBA are quite good about these things. Give them a call, I actually think they'll be very interested in getting to the bottom of it (whether it is their fault or not).

Strewth! That's a fair amount of wear and you didn't notice it earlier? No pulsing through the pedal or drag or anything?

How long did it take to wear this much? What pads are you running?

Have you been racing at Calder with lots of right hand corners? lol

It's been like this for a couple of months (maybe upto 4) with some minor pulsing in the pedal. I've been really busy at work and the car has spent most of the time in the garage!!! It has got a lot worse in the last month. I only drive it on weekends and my wife didn't really say anything. My mechanic is going to take it back to DBA as he has also never seen anything like it. Very unusual to warp one rotor by itself. I have been running bendix ultimmates which are going in the bin after I change rotors next week. Am hoping to get some 4pot wrx calipers to put on the B4. Never been happy with brakes.

As for track days, on Queensland Raceway which is very nasty on brakes and left tyres, but only once a long time ago. very boring race track.
