Hi all,

I am working on a project for my car (engine wise) and needs to have upgraded brakes. I have narrowed the list from 3 below, I can get them from around $1,900 - $2,200 installed. Has anyone experienced any of them or heard anything about them? Can't afford BREMBOs at the moment because its bloody expensive. Thanks, please find the links below.

8 Piston? Thats a bit overkill for street isn't it? lol. Unless you've put something like an F1 engine in your Lib, I dont think 8 pots would be necessary. Many of the guys here with quite powerful libs have managed pretty well with just 4pots.

Could try upgrading to the stock GT brakes with upgraded rotors, pads and fluid. Or wrx 4pots would new rotors, pads and fluid.

What are you doing engine wise? Care to share?

should be able to get Brembo fronts for less than that? I have a set lined up with new rotors for $1400... just need to get pads and fluid on top of that!? :)

Personally I'd rather stick with Brembo's than go with china brakes...

Yea, I have started a thread in the 'Wanted to buy' section for stock GT Brakes but no one is selling theirs so mught need to go down this path. Engine mods hehehe will share with you once all done....still weighing few options here!

i read a few reviews on the ksport brakes and the response was good, they are a copy of ap brakes,so what if it got 6 or 8 pistions you would get a more even pressure on the pads and to say they are overkill for the street is crazy a modded liberty would be a high 12 low 13 sec car the more brake the better .the g4 and the ksports are the same thing

I'd have to disagree with the whole, more brake is better. The Brembo's are more than adequate to do what is required by the average liberty owner. Even at track days (where you'd be using your brakes the most and hardest), the 4 pot Brembos would be more than enough if paired with the right pads, rotors and fluid.

I was at a trackday last weekend and looking at the list of the top 5 fastest cars, the largest brakes of all those cars were 4 pots. 8 pots would be overkill, there would be no point having that much braking force if you didn't have sticky tires to match. And I don't think many of us would be fond of running semi slicks day in day out.

lol, but all of the above might be wrong, feel free to correct me.

on the track you are wiping off speed in a controlled manner on the street you need to stop anytime with out warning. the 5 fastest car you mention most likely came fitted with the brembos but subbie boy has normal liberty brakes so for less money than the brembos he can have a complete brake set up

The K Sport brakes are an AP Racing immitation made in China. They will take any pad that fits the equivalent AP Racing pad.

Surprisingly they are fairly good and gaining popularity amongst the tarmac rally and hillclimb set.

I agree with both of you. On one hand 8-pot is overkill for street use, but on the other if it's cheaper than Brembo's then why not? Unless Brian's going to track it hard to the point of worrying about something breaking, el cheapo's for street use should be a-ok.

Only 1 of the 5 cars mentioned had Brembos which was the EVO IX

There was an MX5, Toyota Soarer, 2 DC5 and an EVO IX.

I haven't personally tried it, but I'd assume our stock brakes are strong enough so that when braking suddenly, the brakes would be able to apply enough force so that the tires lose traction. Meaning the tires would be the the limitting factor not the brakes? Not to sure, anyone care to chime in?

When you're on the track, its not about having a set of brakes that will pull you up quickly, as most properly matched setups will do that, the problem comes after lap 1 or 2 laps when the less adequate setup's will start to fade! Thats when you find the difference between an adequate setup and a very good setup!

Subie Boy - I will be buying the Brembo's from a member of P-WRX, but if you would be happy with a set of GT brakes, PM me as I will be selling my current setup(calipers and good rotors, just need pads) once I have the Brembo's on.

On the road, the braking force you can use is tyre traction limited. Down a long hill (the worst on the Eastern seaboard is Brown Mountain heading East towards Bega) you'll want some pads that will be able to operate at the higher temps they'll experience from repeated hard use.

As far as whether you should get 8 pots or not, well, the bigger brakes will fill out a set of 20's better than the stock brakes (or GT brakes) will.

I can get you a full brake kit upgrade, bolt-on, using totally rebuilt and repainted Sumitomo 4-pot calipers from an R33 GTR and new rotors, custom anchors, for under $2k delivered. Most likely will be using 326mm rotors, but can go up to 330, 335, even 350 if you wanted.
I've been discussing it with a workshop for a while now, just not enough interest to gain momentum. IF you're interested, let me know.

These will stop as good as OEM Brembos for a lesser price. They will also clear many more wheel options, too. :)
