So they tell me MY04 GT has self leveling strutes.

Is that correct? How do you know if its working?

My front sits up higher then the back, and they (suspension joint) think its not working.....

Any one had any exsperiance with this?

I didn't think Subaru's had self leveling struts... Most cars that have that feature tend to be very tricky to lower (IE - Volvo wagons - Yes I wanted to lower our old one! :P )

If you could post a picture, we may be able to tell if the rear is sitting "too" low... Generally speaking, the front's do sit up a little higher to allow greater clearance when turning I believe (Read that on the forum somewhere awhile ago).

Go find a new suspension shop,
cause if they are trying to tell you that a MY04 has self levelling suspension, they either have absolutely no idea or they are trying to wrought $$$$ out of you

The old GEN I liberty wagons had self levelling suspension but that was 15+ years ago

hi mate, some one correct me if im wrong but yeh i never really heard of any subarus having self levelling suspension, i imagine this would have to be acheived by either pnuematics or hydraulics entering the shock thus raising or lowering the car height (never seen a liberty with a OEM dedicated compressor or hydraulic pump to acheive this)...just doing some research and found that subaru did release a model overseas some where called a Outback LL bean edition and it had self leveling rear suspension but ive never heard of it on a Liberty or GT for that matter.

Im not sure if your model has self leveling headlights (if the rear is weighed down and the front is pointing some what up then the lights self adjust to point down at the correct level) if you car has this fitted, i cant imagine it being something wrong with your shocks, struts etc. i assume it would be more like a sensor or something. but if your model does have it maybe thats what there talking about.
Im not 100% on this but i hope that helps. :D

Not 100% but I think 3.0 Outbacks have self-leveling rear suspension. I remember reading about it in the manual. Apparently oil is ported in to the rear shocks to lift the rear when it gets below a certain level. I know our Outback never sits low in the rear even with my shuttle trailer on and 8 downhill mountain bikes and gear. Had 400kgs in the back and again sat as level as always. Will check the manual and get back in a day or so.

I agree the outbacks may have the self levelling suspension, but not the libertys.

Terra is your car a Outback or a Liberty? then you will find your answer.

From past experience, I've learnt not to trust Subaru too much... But in this case I think they are on the money :D

Self leveling suspension can be tricky to lower (From what I understand), but considering soooo many of us have done it, I don't think they have it :D

the only subaru that i know that has the self leveling suspension is the foresters, my mate has an 03 - 04 model and he wanted to get springs but can't because of this, i know the liberty does not have them but not to sure of the outback.

The Foresters have self leveling suspension except the poverty packs and the Outbacks also have self leveling suspension. They are only on the rears though.
