so for maximum kudos who can tell me the technical difference between these tyres? ( apart from the fact that one is a little more worn than the other)
I'll tell you that both are pirelli
both are zero nero
both are 215/45 but first one is 17" and second 18"........

Something is up with the tread pattern on that 2nd one? The edges look like its a rosso while the middle looks like the machine shat itself.

Shouldn't it look more like:

Why me? :P

The 1st PZero Nero pictured is the the Maximum Performance Summer version and is what is normally sold at retail shops. One side of the 'tooth' pattern is missing due to it being worn.

The 2nd PZero Nero pictured is the All Season version meant for the North American OEM. I'm guessing it trades traction and handling for the ability to perform better in light snow and various conditions.

I knew jim would know hehe.
Nigel was right and Jim was... um....right-er.
The top one is slighly harder for Australian conditions.
The bottom one is meant only for the North American market as all season tyres. Pirelli tell me it should grip awsome in the wet and only real concern is that wear will probably be quicker especially if it's really hot weather.
The guy was also telling me that Pirelli actually wanted to put neros on as standard but that the japs wanted the slightly quieter lesser performing rossos.
We had quite l long talk about subarus racing plans for the future and the main thing i remember is that they pulled out of wrc because the current suspension was shit and they couldn't get the car any quicker and that they are actually going to have a crack at (i think) the world touring car championship with the liberty. don't flame me if I've messed that up abit.
