Do H&R Lowering Springs fit on 2.5i Liberty?

Postby L4ch1e » Sat Jan 21, 2023 2:59 pm

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has tried to put on H&R lowering springs on a 2.5i non-Gt.
SKU: 29167-1

My car is a bl/bp and the spec on the website says it fits the non-turbo gt so I would assume it's fine, but wanted to check here before buying.

Thanks for the help in advance!

2.5i are somewhat lighter than GT or h6, you might need 1/2” butt spacers on the rear to get it properly level.

Hmm ok and do you know if the suspension is the same? Like the site days it’s only compatible for the gt but if I’m thinking it would probably work fine?

Yes my understanding is that gen4 springs are interchangeable between all Gen4 struts.

Eg our 2.5i is on Koni sport struts, Rallitek springs and these springs would fit kyb or Bilstein etc struts.

Kings make super low (or they used to) springs that adequately lower the front of a 2.5i.
Bee R springs were also available in Down and Full Down versions.
Some Japanese companies eg PROVA made specific non GT/H6 spring sets, if I remember correctly.

As per my original comment, if your stock rear springs are already sagged, maybe just run front lowering springs before committing to rear lowering springs?

Try a site specific search?

Bear in mind some struts are designed with lowering as part of the design brief.
I’m not sure if this applies to stock KYB’s, if I was lowering these I’d probably upgrade the strut bump stops to shorter, harder type.

Be sure to reset all lateral arm bolts at static height after the initial lowering and again once the suspension has fully settled, to prevent undue torsional load on the captive bushes.

I’d be very tempted to also install a Whiteline or Hardrace etc roll centre adjustment kit, lowered or not.

I’d just like to thank you for your help. Really appreciate the advice.
Both of the fenders are about 35/40ish mil from the top of the tire so i’m thinking that it probably isn’t sagging too badly.
I figure that even if it is a bit lighter than the gt/ h6 the fitment certainly won’t be worse haha!

Now i’ve just gotta stop being worried about the insurance n I’ll be on my way.
(thinking of picking them up next week)

Another thing that’s a must is Avo or Cusco rear swaybar mount reinforcement brackets, and that’s even with the stock swaybars. It prevent the spindly stock rsb mounts from failure during hard driving.

Yep our 2.5i is slightly nose up, but I have saggy butt spacers in the stash for when I get to fixing it back to slightly raked.
