08 H6. Which rotors?

Postby scottb721 » Thu Dec 29, 2022 7:53 am

I see some sites report that the Bosch PBR650 is suitable however they're only 294mm vs 316mm OE size.
What's the go?
Thanks

I used the options listed on the Vmax brakes website for my brembos.
I did see the 316mm option as it’s the standard front rotor size for stock GT spec b non postfl tbSTi aka GT brakes as found on H6 & turbo Libs.
Vmax are affordable discs, you can option j hook or various straight or curved slots, they’re cnc’d in house in Campbelfield Vic.

Here’s a forum site search where you may find related info, eg there’s definite part number confusion related to the rear brake pads on some vendor sites:

Hmmm, Vmax is showing 292mm which I'm sure is incorrect.
A bunch of posts here mention it should be 316 for my 3.0.
The wear lip on mine is only a couple of mm from the edge and that would put the pad well over the edge of 292 or 294 rotors.

Will pull a wheel off and measure again this weekend. I guess I go with the size I have regardless of what various sites say.
Seems Vmax have great prices. I had planned to use $80 credit I have at Supercheap but may rethink that.

Yes it took me a while to get through to the correct search terms to get to the products, but they’re there:

Here’s my search terms: Liberty GT turbo 05-09

Which brings up 10 hits on the site, scroll down on the individual parts page to confirm on the catalogue screenshot that the dimensions are correct for a given part.

This search seems to include GT models (and H6 by default) and exclude tbSTi from the search results, which makes choosing the right slot & pad options easier.

After all that I still double checked my choices with customer service before going to pickup the discs.

Could you measure rotor diameter to confirm size? The difference between 292 to 316 should be easy enough to see.

Yeah, mine are 316mm hence my confusion with fitment lists.
But I think I may have found the source of the problem.
The 3.0 Liberty sedan and wagon both use 316 front rotors however the Outback uses 294mm. Seems databases are listing the Outback rotor in the Liberty fitment.

And thankfully despite what felt like big wear lips, my rotors are only down to 28.8mm. Doing only 1500klms/yr they should be fine for the rest of my life

I got around 10 years 100kkm from a new set of RDA for Brembo fronts, the rears are still going…

But according to my local garage that’s baby steps, nothink!!!

At least compared to some of their customers still going at 300+ kkm, :swoon:

But then some of their customers drive around with check engine lights too: just ignore it!
