Current tyre shortage apparently

Postby Yowie » Thu Jun 24, 2021 2:54 pm

This morning I tried to take advantage of the "4 for the price of 3" deal on some Bridgestone RE003s before the end of financial year (and the sale ends).

The retailer looked up the size and gave me the bad news about a widespread covid-caused manufacturing slow-down causing tyre shortages, with unpredictable supply etc. No 17" Forester Bridgestones for you!

I was offered longer-lasting less sporting options which were in stock.

I don't know the story with common Liberty sizes, but perhaps be aware of the issue and note that you may not be able to get your preferred tyres exactly when you want them.

Hmm. Maybe try somewhere else. My son got 215/45/17s RE003s on his Sti before he went to Thredbo about 5 weeks ago. I wouldn't be talked around.. I'v got a couple of RE003s in that size with about 25% tread left if that's any help. They have even wear. I got 2 almost new Achilles in same size in almost new condition but I wouldn't want to mix them with good tyres (RE003s) LOL.. The Achilles came off my daughters Impreza when we put PS4s on.. They're not a bad tyre. My wife has PS4s on her Rex as well but their not as good as the Bridgestones so that why we will be going back to them.

225/55/R17 is the spec, but cheers for the offer.

I got the sense that the shortage was widespread in particular sizes for particular types.

Ah, yes of course, sorry I forgot you have a forester. You'd get a good case of wind up if you put the 45 profile ones on !! LOL..
