GT Wagon Gen V (Gen 5) Suspension Upgrade/Replacement

Postby mdockrill » Tue Jan 12, 2021 2:57 pm

My 2010 GT Wagon required the rear shocks replaced, both very soft and one is split.

My local shop (Adelaide) quoted $2,600 including parts and labour which I thought was a bit rough, they stated the reason was needing to replace with Blistien Shocks cause in all their experience all other shocks have been a bit shit and this was a huge chunk of the cost. I have been looking around at a few options and just wanted to hear what other peoples experience was.

Found these:

I also considered going coilovers and replacing both front and rear all at once with something like XYZ or MCA. I only travel on the street so no real need for them but also was keen to hear people's experience of using these daily.

I highly recommend the MCA street series coilovers.

No issues at all in my daily. On the softest setting they are just as comfy as stock and they come with the added bonus of height adjustment. They will also transform the handling of the car.

Main downside is added NVH due to the metal top-hat.
