Hi guys,

I'm in a bit of a pickle tonight. I was preparing my front Bilstein shock that had been repaired by CorgiWerx to be reassembled and decided to clean it out first before re greasing.
I thought it would be a good idea to swish a bit of wax and grease remover in there to get out any crap once I'd done what I could with a rag, this was my mistake.
When I went to blow out the wax and grease remover with compressed air, the felt ring that sits under the lower guide sleeve inside the housing fell out into my hand.
Now somehow I either need to glue it back in there or risk running without it.

Any opinions on how important this felt ring is & suggestions of what to use would be appreciated.

I have no idea if this helps, but this helped with teh first srtut that CorgiWerx disassembled for repair.

Thanks I had actually seen that thread.

My issue isn't to do with the procedure for reassembly, but with how critical this felt ring is inside the strut tube.
It's normally located under the lower bearing inside the tube (been reading so now have a better idea of the naming of this stuff).

I figure it's there to stop any crap getting into the lower bearing from the bottom of the tube and/or to prevent the grease from draining into the bottom of the tube and retaining it at the bearing.
The question is, how much worse will it be for the shock if I don't reinstall it?

I've been thinking about how I would go about this, but still need to figure out what adhesives I'd use to reinstall it.

Well if anyone is interested I answered my own question.

Turns out there was a recess under the lower bearing for the felt ring to seat into. Required a bit of grease to help hold it in place and we used some long surgical clamps and a long hook to guide it into place
