XYZ Coilovers + Recommendations

Postby Parker » Sun Feb 02, 2020 8:07 am

Has anyone had experience with the XYZ Coilovers? i'm wanting to put coilovers in my liberty but i'm not sure which ones to get. My local shop is selling the XYZ's so that seems like my easiest option but if they aren't good then I'll have to think about different ones. i'm located in Brisbane so if anyone knows any good suspension shops that would be great. i'm not planning on taking the liberty to the track as its only a 2.5 na

Why get cheapo generic "coilovers" when you can get TEIN delivered for $800?
Or better yet, you have options from Shockworks and MCA.

That’s why I’m asking for recommendations. Are the MCA Greens any good?

I have the MCA street essentials and they are superb. Great balance of performance and comfort.

I have said TEINs and they're great. Just need to supply your own top hats (decently priced from partsouq, or use existing if they're in good condition).

I can't recommend Shockworks enough.

They've done extensive development, even directly with a number of club.lib members (maybe mostly because we kept annoying Chris, until he gave in  ), on the gen4 platform and the result is phenomenal. It's like driving a different car, in terms of response, stability (at high speed, as well as during corners or over bumps), almost endless grip around corners and stock-like comfort.

SW are miles above BC BR, XYZ or any of those generic brands. BCs will work just fine, if you're just after lowering the car and driving to the shops - although they're not really an upgrade from OEM Bilstein struts in terms of valving/handling, especially not $1-1.5k worth of improvement.

Tein have decent rep, MCA will also work well. It just depends what you're using the car for and if you're going to appreciate maximum performance through twisties, or if it's just a daily/shopping trolley.
