Front camber not adjusting correctly, please help!

Postby Kwillen » Mon Jan 20, 2020 3:00 pm

Hey club lib,
I just bought a set of pedders coils off someone in the Facebook group. They were off a prefl wagon with a blown bottom end bearing. Looked really good, no signs of anything wrong.
I Had them fitted and took the car in for an allignment this morning.
After about 5 hours in the workshop I get a call saying that they can't adjust the front left camber with the stock camber bolt.
Apparently even with max negative camber set on the bolt the wheel was still out to almost positive degrees.
Then he said that either the hub is bent - Or a lower control arm is stuffed?
The car has never been in a Collision to my knowledge so I can't imagine the hub bending for any reason. Same goes for the arm.
Question I have is, could it be the strut thats bent and not allowing the wheel to camber in?
Mechanic suggested going out and buying a new set of camber bolts like pedders ones or Whiteline.
What other options do I have
I can post photos if requested!
Thanks guys!

Do they have camber adjust top plates? Where are tops set?

Check the lower bolts on hub mounts are non adjustable and the upper bolts are adjustable...

No, non adjustable tops unfortunately.

I guess you’d want to eyeball if the shock shaft is bent :(

Pics from the side and in-line with the car will help.

Or mark the damper body, loosen the lower lock ring and rotate the damper body 90 degrees to see if camber improves.

I'll upload some pics in about an hour, I expected the wheels to poke with coils but yeah, thought I'd be able to camber them a little bit in so they atleast look roadworthy

Would that just be lowering the front and tucking wheels in? I'll give it a shot tonight! Thanks for the suggestions!!

On stands, wheel off, undo lower lock ring, mark damper body, rotate damper body and eyeball for a bent shaft.
You might need to rattle off the top mount nut to rotate the damper body or shaft.

You’d also want to peep that the upper bolt on the lower mount at the hub is a camber bolt..
