Replacing Bilsteins on Liberty STI MY08

Postby pharcyde » Tue May 29, 2018 12:43 pm

Need help deciding on replacement for the Bilsteins on front and back.

Have had a read of previous threads, but information overload.

Car is used for daily commute, plenty roundabouts in CBR, no track.

Recommend replacing the Bilsteins with another set? or since it's going to be a major cost, go for a different brand or type of setup? any additional stuff should I tack on like upgrading the bushes? (excuse the ignorance)

I'm used to the road noise now, so anything I'd go for would have to be equal to, or less

thanks for any help in advance

MCA or Shockworks
If you’re in Melb, I can demonstrate Shockworks.

Thanks for the offer, I'm in Canberra unfortunately!

So, something like MCA Blues (came up often in a search here) or MCA Essentials would be okay?

Yes.
They should exceed stock spec performance and maximise compliance for most types of driving whilst offering better recovery in extreme conditions.
Definitely worth the modest premium to really enjoy the chassis...
That’s assuming adequate brakes and great tyres :)

Other options are to rebuild your bilsteins (Bilstein in Sydney do it including freight but you will be off the road) or something like KYB AGX. Depends whether you are phased about going for coilovers or want to stick with something more standard. I bought a lower K's set of Billies and fitted new springs and very happy. Also recently did all the bushes but not cheap with labour. Mine is 90% to and from work in traffic with spirited driving when I can.

Okay, so after reading up a ton more, I won't go the coilover route.

Have got prices, the normal KYB's will be half the cost of replacement Bilsteins.

And having the existing rebuilt isn't an option unfortunately
