What calipers to install (Lib gt 2010 gen v wagon)

Hi

I'm looking to upgrade calipers. I already have dba t3 4000 front and rear rotors, how do I get the correct calipers to match these rotors? Not sure about calipers and what I should look for.

Dba t3 4000 is a line of rotors, dba made those in variations to suit different cars so you need to provide more details of the part number.

Also do you have a 2.5i, 3.6 or GT?

I have the GT,
Front rotors are : DBA42650S
Rear rotors are : DBA42663S

I think they are just a direct replacement with the same dimensions as oem

Right I see.

In that case if you have already made the purchase, you are limited to staying with stock calipers at this point.
No need to change them. Just give them a good clean and paint if required.

They are almost as good as brembos on the front, apart from the looks / appearance.

If you did want an upgrade in calipers, you would need to exchange your rotors to the STI version at 326mm x 30mm (from memory ). As the liberty GT calipers would be 316 x30 on the front.
The rears are different also - brembos are 316 x 20 mm and gt rears are 290x18mm.

Have you already bought new brake pads ?

Yes i have the dixcel type m pads. The Gt calipers are not good in my opinion , I also have braided brake lines, they still feel soft. There's that initial spongy feeling before they clamp in.

So there are no calipers that will fit these rotors?

Not to my knowledge.

But it seems there is a guide on getting Evo brembos to work on a subaru with front rotors in your size:
http://www.rs25.com/forums/f105/t101318 ... -suby.html

You could also look through this thread for ideas:

But I would think if you spend the money on better calipers, best to pair them with the bigger rotors at that point.

There is also a simple change that can be made on your tune, which would increase brake booster effect, meaning your pedal could feel better.

Also you might want to try a Cusco brake cylinder stopper kit.

You could mention the following to your tuner about the brake booster improvement via tune,

See post here:
http://www.romraider.com/forum/viewtopi ... 5&start=15
FYI: Move all your Load tables from 0.4 over so you lose your 3.0 columns as 2.6 is same values. Insert a 0.3 with values of current 0.2 and then zero out 0.2g/rev column. Apply the brakes at 60mph and tell me what happens ;)

And a hint here:

That might give your tuner some ideas.

I remember when I had my car tuned with Matt he mentioned something about tweaking the brakes, but it was not noticable. It may well be improving braking theoretically, but it's not something in my experience that was a noticeable improvement practically.

Ok, I didn't realise your tuner was Matt.

The only other thing I wanted to mention is thst the STi Master Brake Cylinder might be worth looking into. Some say it pushes more fluid which helps firm up the feel.

My tuner was Matt, I have someone else now.
Don't think I'll change the cylinder , but I'll have a look at the cylinder stopper. Some say that made a slight difference with the braided lines.

A harder pedal feel does not always equal better stopping power, this must be tested.
