New Tyres for SpecB - Bridgestone S001 vs RE003?

Postby tom_kauf » Fri Mar 17, 2017 1:56 pm

This might be a long shot, but I'll need new tyres soon - does anyone have direct experience with the Bridgestone S001 vs RE003?

I can't really find any comparisons. The RE003s have got a nicer and more aggressive looking tread though.

If I do stick with Bridgestone (I've been very happy with my S001s), the options are getting S001s again or going to RE003s.
The RE003s have been marketed towards the enthusiast, but the S001 is supposed to be their Ultimate Street Performance tyre (came from the factory on Ferrari 458s for a while, various Audi RSs, and Aston Martin Rapide).

At one point I was thinking of going with even more aggressive rubber like Yokohama AD08Rs, but haven't decided.

And unlike eg. Michelin Pilot Super Sports (which are $$$s, the S001s were only high $200ea for the stock 18" size.

I'm running Hankook V12 Evo2, very happy with them. $160 a pop (225/45/18)

i had RE003s on my VF and they were great.

definitely not as long a life like the RE050s, prob abt 10kms less (50kms v 40kms) based on my experience

Hey mate Costco have 235 40 18s S001s @ $199 each and Bridgestone are running 4 for 3.

Under $600 for set of S001s is incredible value.

Wow, that is amazing value! Thank you. Years ago paid $290 something each for 215/45R18s (or whatever the stock size is).
We don't have a Costco anywhere in North QLD, but I'll have a look if there's one in Brisbane. I have family there and drive down occasionally.
The 4 for 3 deal is also excellent.

Oh and btw, eduard0 mentioned that he definitely thinks the S001s are better than the RE003s. He had both on his Gen5, so that's a great direct comparison.
