i have a 1992 liberty and im looking at buying a set of rims. they are 18 x 7 with +45 offset. will i have any trouble with scraping???

depends on what profile tyre you run.

i run a 215/40/18 on a 18x7" rim and it scrubs on the rear.

however if i use a 35 series profile, its fine

they tyres that are curently on the rims are Nankang NSII 225/35/18.

forget nangkangs they are rubbish spend a little bit more and get good rubber beacause that is what keeps you car on the road

Agreed, Nankangs are great if you're a caryard looking to put crap-but-legal tyres on cars as cheaply as possible.

My philosophy has always been - why spend all that time and money on buying/building a decent car, then skimp on the bit that connects it to the road? A decent set of tyres will completely transform a car.

Actually, not sure if it's been mentioned before (I'm new here too!) but while I'm on my soap box... I've heard people say before that they can get away with lower quality tyres because their car has 4WD/AWD - buh bow!! You might have extra grip under acceleration, but your tyres still have to corner and brake. They'll also affect how you car rides, tracks the road, NVH, etc. Get decent tyres!!

I have Achilles tyres on mine (20s) and they seem to do the job and ride quality is good!

i'm certainly no expert and i'm not having a dig but it's usually in the upper limits(6/10ths+)or in emergency situations that you find out your tyres failings.

Hey man, I have no idea what you mean by that....all I said was that my tyres seem okay!! I wasn't comparing it with the likes of the top brands like Bridgestones, Pirellis and those sorts!!

what i'm saying (in the nicest possible way) is that you (according to your sig) seem to have spent a heck of alot of money doing shit to your car...
if your tyres let you down badly just once then it might have all been wasted.
