How good is the stock bilsteins suspention?

Hey,

Just spent my Saturday morning giving my newly purchased Liberty a quick once over and iv discovered that the front shocks have been replaced with generic no name shocks. I have found a set of Bilsteins Stock Shocks and springs 2nd hand for $450. The current front suspension is garbage and i need an upgrade.

Is it worth it paying for the 2nd hand Bilsteins, or should i just save up for new Coilover?

Cheers
Chris

Worth it if you can pay closer to $300 as I've seem sets go for that many times.

If you enjoy a comfortable ride then go with them.
Otherwise I would buy some used BC Br coilovers.

I really like them, they're a great balance of comfort and performance. But if you're after more of a performance setup, then consider aftermarket coilovers. You will get a harsher ride though. Even the popular Shockworks suspension (which is an excellent upgrade), is known to give a slightly harsher ride.
Young guys might not mind, but being in my mid 30s and a slightly bad back, I appreciate suspension that's still comfortable enough.

Shockworks are way better than flogged billies, the worse the bumps the better they get even!
The kind of harshness they do exhibit has more to do with tyre type and profile transmitting road feel imho.

Anyhow, ime low k billies are acceptable but once beyond their service life are just nasty :)
