Not sure that wider tyres will necessarily have a shorter longitudinal (front to back) contact patch. As long as the rolling diameter is the same the longitudinal patch length is the same, no matter what the tyre width.
As Robert says though, tyre pressure, sidewall profile and flex will have more of an effect as it effectively changes the size of the contact patch.

I think it's stated due to the tyre being wider, but the weight on it stays the same, meaning the contact patch becomes somewhat shorter front to back, as the contact patch has been widened.
As for sidewall flex, if the tyre was wider but the same outer diameter, then really, although the profile would be lower as its expressed as the ratio between width and height, the sidewall flex would be similar?

Ah I see. I didn't quite understand that either (having a smaller longitudinal contact patch). But BBB could be right!

This thread is getting technical  . I expected a bit of anecdotal feedback, but technical info is great.

I think we need some math on the subject. :D

And I'll throw this one in for those who think stretched tyres are awesome. :P

Nice! :D I have watched some of his videos before, but hadn't seen his ones on tyres.

Iirc if u want time slips, then tyre type, profile, pressure, damping, and spring weights etc are important factors to consider. :P
