Gen V coil overs?

Postby WheelZ » Tue Jul 05, 2016 3:31 pm

There is no shortage of information about coil overs on this forum and i feel like i might have read damn near all of it but i still need your help.

I have a Gen V wagon, it's a daily driver that would only see a track for shits and gigs once in a blue moon and she needs to be dropped.

It would seem that the reasonably priced options would be Tein, BC, KiDo (i've read good and bad things) and Shockwave (although i can't seem to see if they make them for Gen V's).

Share with me you wisdom and experience. What do you recommend?

Doesn't look like they do them for the BR, only BL/BP. Having said that, i guess it couldn't hurt to shoot them a message.

If MCA doesn't work out check out the HKS Hipermax IV GT. I've spent a while trying to decide on something to replace my worn out Bilsteins and have settled on these. I would have gone with the MCAs had I been in Aus but shipping and import duties here in Japan makes them less of an option compared to the locally built HKS. Just waiting on my work bonus to pick them up.

Hmmm, they're a little more than i wanted to spend. I just ordered a set of the BC BR's from Justjap, hopefully they'll be here by the weekend and i can con my mate to install them for me!

The TEIN Flex Z look good, but not sure on how long you have to wait for them.

Yeah, the Tein's were at the top of my list for a while, but there was more information and feedback around for the BC's and it was pretty much ALL good, so i decided to play it safe and go with those. Put an order in with JustJap yesterday.

Really well man.

I ended up with BC BR's, for all the reading i did there just wasn't enough info on the Tein's and MCA are looking into our cars but could be a long way off, whereas a decent amount of people had and were happy with the BC's. They went in on Saturday and i'm stoked with them, we dropped her by 30mm to start with and see how she goes, damper settings right in the middle and it's a solid ride but perfectly acceptable to me given that my old car rode like it was on bump stops.

Handles like a dream and sits almost exactly where i want her.
