Hey all,
ive been quoted a preety good price for a set of WRX 4 pot calipers and 2 pots for the rear ( the ones with the machined words 'SUBARU' on the sides). i was just wondering if anyone know if these a a direct fit for a MY06 Lib 2.5i and if the rotors are the same size....the guy that quoted me said its all the same, but some how i think differently.

WRX 4 pot rotors are 294mm. GTB rotors are 316mm. You would have to do a bit more research to check if 2.5i rotors are the same size.

2.5i rotors are:

Front brake description Ventilated discs
Front - diameter (mm) 277
Rear brake description Discs
Rear - diameter (mm) 274

the stock wheels will NOT fit over them.

Why not just look at getting the GT breaks as an upgrade?

Still 2 pot front 1 pot rear, but running 315mm up front (Unsure of the back).

Get a set of nice slotted discs up front with some nice pads & I think you'll go home a very happy man

Front 294mm dia x 24mm
Rear 290mm dia (not 100% sure)

Front 294 mm dia
Rear 266 mm dia or 290mm depending on Yr

Phat GT would be the best person to speak to.

I may also have a set of DBA4000's for the front going fairly cheap in the next few months

GT brakes have been seen to go for a couple hundred. Full rotors, calipers, lines, pads. Shipping is a little expensive, but I think it wouldn't be too bad all up. Otherwise try and troll the forums for 2nd sets. Don't come up too often though. Maybe rexnet for people upgrading their MY08 calipers to something more exotic.

There is some information on the web that suggests that the GT brakes are better than WRX setup at stopping power due to the size of the rotors. Same article and research suggests that GT setup is close to Brembos for performance. IMO, in the real world Brembos would still outperform GT brakes

for the 04- 06 libs, how big can you go without having to do any modifications..ie i know to fit the brembo you need the bigger wheels and need to make some changes.

from some research ive found that the brembo's avail for the libs are the same as as few other makes and models, such as the wrx and i believe either the nissan skyline or 350...any confirmation on this?

The caliper on most OEM Brembos are largely the same, the mounting points differ though.

STi Brembo will fit Liberty with no modifications for the front - rears will need some work.
