Broken trailing arm

Hey folks. Unfortunately, my car was smashed into the rear right-hand side which snapped the trailing arm in half. To save some cost, I salvaged all the broken parts from the wrecker and pieced it all back together. But still, after getting all four wheels aligned, the rear right wheel is almost 8mm off. The left-hand side wheel is well within the acceptable specification.

I'm very puzzled, coz visually all parts look in order. What should I do to fix the problems? any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, I thought to go and see pedders suspension for a check up but those buggers charge heaps. lol

Thanks again

Time to replace a bent subframe?

I have a spare rear subframe in Melb if u need ;)

The affected wheel is 8mm out in which direction?

A good laser alignment eg from Donnellans collingwood should give you an idea of where the issue is.
Eg a comparison of front and rear track and the resulting slip angle.
The actual track difference is 2 or 4mm depending on pre or postFL, the rear track being narrower.
The subframe can be loosened and manipulated with long pins that go into alignment holes so perhaps that could work toward fixing the issue.

And all of the rear arms could contribute to it being out of whack.
My car had a similar issue which I've now solved...

You could even DIY that on stands using a few sets of ratchet straps, but a belly lift or hoist would make it way easier.
The rear trailing mounts (14) also have a loose mounting to the body or subframe.
I centred mine by tightening them up to each other also with ratchet straps.
I'd be happy to help out if required, I do have access to a couple of hoists local to me in collingwood.

That's what I'm afraid of, changing the rear sub-frame. I gave the whole rear undercarriage a thorough check but visually I can't notice anything wrong. Both the upper and lower control arms look fine and bolts in place.

bigDadbenny, if I did a new sub-frame, I'll let you know.

Any ideas on who should I take the vehicle to help me out. Pedders or any general mechanic etc..

Thanks guys

Everything bolt back. I can drive the car but the wheel that took the force of the impact is still not 100% straight.

If you stand on the rear right hand side of the car facing to the front of the vehicle. The wheel is tilted towards inside of the rear passenger door.

Mad, have you had a proper alignment done since the fix?
Sounds like a crap ton of toe in but a proper analysis by laser would be the key.

Then we can make some measurements from my spare subframe to compare.
If it's relatively square but bumped out of whack, then it could be readjusted and then aligned.

Also with that much potential rear toe in, beware the car stepping out madly during cornering, and get that alignment checked ASAP.
