Fulcrum Suspension quote - bush kits and strut tops

Postby Joshuz101 » Sat Feb 27, 2016 5:24 pm

Hey guys!

My suspension has felt a bit off lately; feeling quite stiff and bumpy.

I drive a 2006 Subaru Liberty 3.0R Spec B. I took it to Fulcrum Suspension to get a free suspension inspection, and was quoted the following:

SPF3096-18K SUBARU SWAY BAR MOUNT BUSH KIT - $36.28
SPF3388-70K SUB LIB RR TRAIL ARM FR BU KT - $142.43
MISC STRUT TOPS (2) - $258.00
Suspension Labour - $327.27
Front & Rear Wheel Alignment - $109.09
Consumables Charged - $12.50

Total with tax: $974.13

Do you think this a reasonable price? Looks like we are just replacing some bushings and strut tops, in summary. I know this is quite a common procedure for anyone with a Liberty above 100k kms.

I am probably going to buy the parts myself from Subaru or a 3rd party and hunt around for a better quote on the labour. Any suggestions on how to get this done cheaper, besides doing it myself as I am definitely no mechanic unfortunately.

Also, is it worth upgrading rear sway bar to Whiteline? I can see on their website that they can also provide the bushings.

Thank you for your time.

That's about 1/2 the cost of replacing your flogged billies with MCA or Shockworks...

you can definitely find these 3 parts a lot cheaper...
or also listen to BBB, these shockworks coilovers seems like the go, and good bang for buck.

Buy the shockworks and change the bushes at the same time.

This is true, but I'd still be forking out for the bushing kits and labour either way.

I'd get a blind second opinion/quote, and if sticking with struts, consider WL camber caster tops, to add a little weight and extra self centring to the steering.
