Help Needed - Brembo Help - Gen V

Postby bigm07 » Wed Jan 13, 2016 7:39 pm

Hey guys,

I'm unsure when it comes to brake kits so I'm really hopping some more experienced people like yourselves would help me out.

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if brembos would fit the below wheels??

These are the standard 18' wheels that come on 2013 Liberty wagon GT Premium.

Is there anyone in Melbourne that would help out and to see if my wheels on their GenV with brembos installed?? Could possibly be an easiest way to see if they fit.

I really appreciate the help guys.

I'm going to suggest it's almost certain they will not fit - brembos it's about sideways clearance, so look at the design of those rims and the offset, and I would bet you dollars to donuts, they won't fit.

2nd hand would be the way to go. Either from here in Aus, or from Japan via import monster, Jesse Streeter etc.
Brand new you will be able to source them from somewhere like Japanparts.com, or even Subaru Aus (at an exorbitant cost)

Have a look around at what wheels other people running Brembos are using. There's a fair few aftermarket brands (WORK, VOLK, BBS, Enkei etc) with enough spoke clearance for the calipers.

+1 what Troy said!

I acquired my sti enkeis 2nd hand - they definitely have enough clearance for the bigger brakes

Awesome thanks guys, Really appreciate your help and advice.

Yeah I contacted Subaru Aus today and they quoted me $3500 for the set which obviously I wasn't surprised about.

I've just put new tyres on my current wheels so I need to make sure they would fit on the new rims.

Also has anyone purchased off Pro-speed racing before? They advertised NEW Brembos kit for $2300 which I surprised about it as everyone was telling me that a second hand set would be around $2500.......Wondering if these are just the calipers.

Cheers Michael

That's probably just calipers.
You'll need rotors and adapaters to fit the rear brembos too.

$3500 is a rip. I got Enkei SC22's fitted with tyres for $2K on the button, and they have enough clearance for brembos if i measured them properly.
Stuff subaru, source some nice aftermarket wheels. 8)

Wow $3500!?!?!
You can buy a nice premium set of Japanese rims for that kind of money!

There's currently a bunch of sets of brembos on ebay from jdmspares for 1389 - F+R calipers.

You'll need rotors, but it's a fair priced way to get brembos in your hand with little fuss. Especially if you're going to repaint them anyway.

Nice choice..... I doing some searching, I want to stay with a black wheel as I'm trying to keep it looking very stealth like because all black.
