How to: Parts numbers - Brembo front conversion

Postby *thomas* » Sun Jan 03, 2016 4:39 am

Hi all

I've been looking into a Brembo conversion on my Outback, and tought I'd share this info with you. I'm sure most of you know what to look out for when doing this conversion, but lots of owner decided to grind down/peel back the front disc dust cover. In Belgium, we have to keep things stock, or at least, make them look stock. So I always try to use OEM parts.

You will need:

- Brembo ESD/USDM/JDM front calipers (as far as I know, they are all the same)
- front brake pads
- 5x100 326mm front discs

Like I said, lots of us just grind the stock brake shield down and I know it won't affect the setup, but there is another way. The front hub on the 03-08 legacy/outback/liberty is the same as the one used on the 07 onwards impreza, which means you can use the 07 onwards STI brake shield.

Parts numbers are:

26290FG000
26290FG010

Strangely, left and right are different, whereas they are the same for the stock disc setup.

An other option is to use GTB or tbSTI ones.

Part number:

26290AG010

Don't forget you'll need other than stock wheels to clear, or spacers.

Cheers

Thomas

Aren't the outback brakes smaller than the GT/GTB ones? That should be the only place problems arise, for the front atleast. Rear end is where things typically become less standard.
When I did my swap, the stock GTB dust shields for the front end were the exact same ones as the ones which came with my Brembo setup, which came from a tbSTI Legacy. They fit perfectly fine. Chances are the impreza ones are slightly larger because the tbSTI ones were right on the edge of the disc diameter wise, but if thats how Subaru were happy with it, then i'm happy with it.

Good point, Andy.

Yes, GT brakes are larger than Outback brakes, even on the H6. I guess they are 316mm so that would explain why they the 326mm discs sit flush with the edge. I could add the GT dust shield part number if people want to upgrade from the regular spec Liberty cars... I'm just no to sure which one it is on the opposedforces site.

According to partsouq.com's part list thats the part number for the GTB ones. Has the same part number for the tbSTI ones too. Doesn't seem to give a left or right though, fairly certain they were different between left and right
26290AG010

Actually they do look to be the same. Didn't have any better pictures.
