SSR wheels any good?

Postby 30RSPECB » Mon Oct 12, 2015 1:41 pm

Hey Guys,

I'm looking for some really light wheels under $1400, any recommendations?

I came across these which are apparently under 17lbs (7.7kg) which is the kind of weight I'm after. Have you heard of SSR before, are they any good?

Do you think it's best to stick to stock 18s on my spec.B, or get 17s with a bigger sidewall(aspect ratio)?

What are your intentions for your car? Track handling or just look alone?

Based on the fact you mentioned light weight wheels I am assuming you want a track beast. Never heard of SSR but that doesnt mean to say they are no good. I would google them and see reviews they come up with.

Other wheels to consider are Enkei & Koya semi forged wheels for lightweight options. Might want to rethink your minimum budget though. But these brands are sensational quality.

Ssr aka speed star racing.
Reputable long standing Japanese brand.
Do lots of research as regards fitment & tyres before committing.
See what looks good and works well for other members.
18x8.5 +45 requires a mild rear roll, less offset (more poke) gets a bit trickier ;)

I can't recommend upgrade rims in stockish fitment, they look pretty average, you'll sruggle to sell them if you don't like them.

I can vouch for this. That said, Im not pushing all that hard to sell them to be honest. If someone came up with a reasonable offer I would probably take it. The issue is, these are a common wheel now so you are competing with the next Joe who has the same set for cheaper.
