I don't know if this is the right place to post this topic but I need some suggestions.

Recently, the level of road noise inside my car has increased dramatically, at all speeds. With my smart phone, I measured the noise level inside while doing 80km/h to be 80-85 decibels. I don't know where to start troubleshooting but I have two suspects . 1- Front tyres are worn, needs changing . 2- shock absorbers, I am not sure about this one but judging my the harsh ride, I am guessing the shock absorbers are gone. I also did an under carriage inspections, things looked fine.

The noise level inside the cabin was not this bad before, now it is unbearable. Driving for 30mins to an hours long, my ears kinda hurt.

Please help. I hate driving this car now

If it's stick, check under the shift boot that the rubber seal is intact and in place.

You say the rear tyres are newish?
Did the increased unpleasant noise level start around the same time as getting the new rear tyres?
Also, is it an Auto or Manual?

The car is auto. The rear tyres are about 3000km old. there was some noise but now is a whole different level

I do not know what happens when odd size tyres damage the centre differential components in an Auto?
Does anyone have any ideas or experience?

the tyres are according to factory specs, 215/45/R1. Transmission seems fine and smooth, but still it could be the rear diff.

I noticed, the sound is mainly generated from the rear end. I don't know how to tackle this issue, where should I start diagnosing the problem?

Using "matched" tyres means all four tires are the same brand, design and tread depth. Mixing tyre brands, tread designs and tread depths may cause components in the vehicle's driveline to fail."

The tyres are a mixture of old (worn) and new tyres, which will have a different rolling diameter.
The tyres are a mixture of brands, being Dunlop and Kumho.
By this definition they are mismatched (odd sized) tyres.

Have the rear wheel bearing(s) been checked?

I'm getting the old tyres changed next week.

I was driving on the FWY today, doing 110km/h, the sound level changed depending on the road surface, on smoother surface, noise level was significantly lower, which rules out rear diff and wheel bearings.

Update

I changed the old worn out tyres, found out that one of the rear wheel had buckled and the alignment was off. The noise has reduced but not gone completely. I don't have any idea what causing all the noise. WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?

Hey mate,

Two scenarios -

1. Wheel bearing is gone. If will sound like grinding amd be loud. Get someone to sit in the back snd see if it is coming from a certain side.
2. Tyre tred is on the wrong way -there should be a direcriom it is supposed to spin in.

Check those things.
